Does anyone else hear wakka-chikka music when reading this? Note: this is an introductory scene in a piece of fanfiction which is truly intended to be an innocent domestic scene between two erstwhile TV characters, not a giant double-entendre along the lines of the opening to the movie The Bird Cage.

BTW, I actually liked the story this comes from. (It's K/S, of course.) I just can't get over the mental image the part I quoted conjured up for me. Euuuughhhhhhh...

I think you might be on to something with the "only write in one style" observation.

After my many experiences with US betas it's become very clear that being a native speaker does not necessarily qualify as good editor.

Also, in this case the ongoing fascination of K/S fandom with "tall, lanky form" probably didn't help ;)
