Chapter Three
By: Sharl
Jaejoong stomped down the corridor and glared at the empty hallway. Too bad there wasn’t any students lingering around or he might have something (someone) to vent out his frustrations at. Never, never in his life Kim Jaejoong had been so fucking humiliated!
Except that one time when Inspector Park yelled at him in front of the whole department. Well not actually yelled, because Inspector Park never yelled, he spoke in low tone and uttered menacingly vicious words. So in a way it’s worse than being yelled at.
And that other time when Jaejoong was so drunk he literally ran across the street wearing nothing but pink boa and ended up in his own cell at the police station. But he was drunk that time so it was a legitimate excuse.
But this! He was so humiliated when actually none of this was his fault. When and how was he supposed to know that he should’ve read the textbook first before coming to class? And when he couldn’t answer, that asshole Jung just kicked him out like that? He was an exchange student for goodness sake, wasn’t he supposed to have a new student’s rightful excuse or something?
Jaejoong stopped walking and scowled. Damn it asshole Jung, Jaejoong would make sure it would not happened again next time. Jaejoong would be the best, brightest, smartest Economic students from the whole year, and asshole Jung would eat his own words.

However, on the next week, Jaejoong still got kicked out.

“So you got kicked out again?” Changmin asked between guffaws. Pieces of lettuce and tomatoes flew everywhere on the table as Jaejoong dumped a plate of salad harshly. The undercover cop glared at his new friend. He was about to say something to defend his scattered pride at being laughed at, but Changmin’s attention was already diverted to the food. The law student was munching loudly on the toasted bread Jaejoong had sprinkled on his salad.
Sighing, Jaejoong decided to just focus on cooking. Changmin in front of food was a hopeless case. He was the worst among the others; Jonghyun loved food, but not as much as Changmin while Minho… Well, the guy ate food just because he needed them to survive, not because he enjoyed them. The four friends were now in Jaejoong’s dorm again, having dinner cooked by Jaejoong as Changmin had insisted earlier.
“You don’t need to buy anything, I bring everything you need, even down to the salt. And remember that coat you saw at Burberry last week?”
Well, Jaejoong’s ears had definitely perked up the moment he heard Burberry. He placed four generous slices of salmon over two pieces of French bread for each person and drizzled them with his special mushroom sauce. For dessert, he sliced up the lemon tart that Jonghyun had brought with him.
They were two minutes into dinner when Changmin moaned out loud. “God Jaejoong, you’re a god.”
“Yes yes I know I am.”
“So Jaejoong,” Jonghyun said as he munched on some bread, “why did Professor Jung kick you out again?”
Jaejoong scowled, a habit he developed so easily whenever someone mentioned the asshole near him. “Apparently I forgot to do an assignment. An assignment which I had no idea there was an assignment in the first place ‘cause the asshole kicked me out last week. Now whose fault is that?”
“Yours.”
Jaejoong wished he had accidentally splashed half a bottle of Tabasco on Changmin’s salmon. He gave a scathing glare to the law student. “No way in hell it’s my fault! He kicked me out twice, damn it!”
The three friends shared a look. Jonghyun even swallowed his salmon heavily. “Jae, you need to know that Professor Jung held a lot of influence in this university. He’s some big shot in stock market and made fortunes from them. Do you know he’s nominated a Nobel prize in Economics last year?”
“…There’s a Nobel prize for Economics?”
Minho frowned. “Jae, you’re majoring in Economy and you don’t know that there’s Noble prize in Economics?”
Jaejoong cursed mentally. Trust him and his big mouth to nearly blow his cover up. No, actually this was all Jung fucking Yunho’s fault. That asshole nearly blew Jaejoong’s cover! Well yeah, that’s a bit far-fetched blaming method but Jaejoong felt better blaming Professor Jung.
He cleared his throat uncomfortably. “Of course I know. I meant that I don’t believe that Professor Jung is that smart. So Changmin,” Jaejoong said hurriedly, “I know you’re taking pre-Law. Do you take any minor with that?”
Changmin nodded. “Yeah, I’m taking Japanese.”
“Oh. That’s unexpected. You like Japanese?”
Suddenly Jonghyun snickered. “Hell yeah he is, though he likes one of the-“
“Shut up Jonghyun,” Changmin said with a glare to his friend.
Jonghyun clamped down immediately and made a zipper movement over his lips. Jaejoong raised an eyebrow and very nearly pouted at being left in the dark. Changmin apparently had secrets and he didn’t want Jaejoong to know. That was understandable actually because Changmin had only known Jaejoong for a month now, but somehow Jaejoong felt hurt.
…Maybe he’d been on this undercover mission for too long already. He needed to find something soon.

Jaejoong smiled. Well. This bar was perfect. Ivy Leagues students or not, they still consumed drugs (if there was any) in the same way with any other normal students: in bars, clubs, and college parties. Bars might be a good starting point to gather some information. There’s nothing better than a good drink or two to loosen someone’s tongue.
Sooner or later someone would talk.
