Be My Muse
Chapter Three
By: Sharl
“Thank you very much, please come again!” Kyuhyun said with a bow.
He watched as the girl exited the store’s door and checked his watch. It was almost 11.30 AM and his Supply Chain Management class would start at 12.00 PM so he needed to get going now. Although it was only five minutes by buss, Kyuhyun wanted to save money since he was now providing for his own.
It had been two weeks since his argument with Siwon and so far Kyuhyun didn’t want to go back, not even to check the man.
Kyuhyun congratulated himself for managing to survive without anybody’s help. Donghae would be downright worry if he knew what was happening but when they Skype-d last night, Kyuhyun was really glad he didn’t tell his brother about this. Donghae seemed genuinely happy in Taiwan. The job was interesting, challenging enough to keep him occupied and a happy Donghae was a grateful Kyuhyun. His brother really enjoyed living there; he even met one Canadian Chinese guy called Henry Lau. Kyuhyun suspected they were in relationship, but Donghae said they weren’t.
All in all, Kyuhyun was very glad that he hadn’t allowed Donghae to refuse the job back then.
Three days after leaving Siwon’s apartment, Jonghyun (the friend that Kyuhyun had stayed with) was ready to kick Kyuhyun off his couch. He was very nearly ready to apologize to Siwon, just so the man took him back but his Supply Chain Management professor wanted another Ursula Le Guin’s books and once again he asked Kyuhyun to buy them for him.
And thank God he did.
Because that very day, Kyuhyun saw an advertisement in Creepy Yesung’s bookstore: Part timer needed. He had immediately talked to the Creepy Yesung and his iguana, surprising himself that he actually could talk with the man without getting freaked out. After much begging and heartfelt confessions, Creepy Yesung granted him the job. He even asked if Kyuhyun wanted to stay and practically lived in the bookstore because there was an attic Creepy Yesung didn’t use upstairs.
So now not only Kyuhyun had a job, he even had a place to stay where he didn’t have to pay for the rent.
The place he was staying (the attic) was small and dirty, definitely the opposite of Siwon’s gleaming penthouse but Kyuhyun was alright with that. It was his own place (technically it was Yesung’s, but never mind that), something he could call as his own.
Plus he quite liked working at the bookstore. He had been accustomed to Creepy Yesung’s presence by now, he wasn’t even scared to the man anymore. Kyuhyun had even developed good friendship with Creepy Yesung’s dead bugs collections, he knew which one was Tooya and which one was Peculya.
Too bad that if he worked in a bookstore, it means that he would see Siwon’s books on daily basis, and that just reminded him for the man. Kyuhyun felt a bit guilty for snooping for his clothes in Siwon’s apartment two weeks ago but hey, he was lucky Siwon was not at home that day.
One glance at the clock showed that it was 11.35 AM. If Kyuhyun didn’t leave now, he would be late for his class. Shouldering his backpack, he said goodbye to Yesung and walked towards the university.
*
Kyuhyun was cataloguing the new books one day, when he saw a couple of guys arguing over Siwon’s books near the bestseller sections area. The two men although they were both good looking (one was insanely tall and the other one was shorter) were bickering like children. Apparently the tall one wanted to buy the book, but the shorter one said it was not a good idea because why should they buy a graphic novel when they could just make graphic porn live on their own just fine.
He heard a part of their conversation:
“Su, this guy is really good okay. He writes like no other writers,” said the tall guy. “And he has the craziest ideas. Look, in this book there’s a guy called Gui Xian who wore one of those Hawaiian grassy skirt, isn’t that creative? He was getting fucked by an older guy, Shi Yuan.”
“So what?”
“So who in the world ever had an idea of Hawaiian skirt as foreplay? It’s genius!”
“… sometimes I wonder if you’re an idiot or you’re just plain stupid, Changmin,” the shorter guy didn’t seem to be impressed. He took one look at the taller one’s pouting form. “Look, it’s not that I’m against this book or anything but really I don’t see the use of this book.”
“But he’s a genius writer!”
“I’m fairly convinced that he’s just an old pervert.”
Kyuhyun silently cheered for the shorter man, because that was exactly what Siwon was: a pervert. A complete, utterly pervert who didn’t care about anything else but that stupid fake giant panda bear of his. Siwon lived in his own world.
The two arguing men brought Kyuhyun out of his musings.
“Oh come on, if this Shi Yuan guy doesn’t love the other one, would he take care of the other like that? Would he place soft kisses when he knew Gui Xian was hurting? And the same goes to the luau-wearing dude, he doesn’t seem to mind too much wearing that grassy skirt.”
It was because he never wore the grassy skirt! Kyuhyun wanted to scream out loud. And he will never will!
But the taller guy’s words kept coming back to him. Siwon did place soft kisses when he knew Kyuhyun was hurting. He did that when they tried the research for the first time. And when Kyuhyun said it hurt, every time he said it hurt, Siwon always slowed down and tried to make it as pleasurable for Kyuhyun as possible. Did this mean that Siwon actually care about Kyuhyun? No, the other part of him piped in, he just did that because he wants to know your reactions. Research, remember?
A sudden pang of disappointment went through him. It hurt when he thought about it: that Siwon never saw him as anything else than a guinea pig. Siwon never tried contacted him anyway after their argument, he didn’t call Kyuhyun, he didn’t look for Kyuhyun.
So whatever Kyuhyun felt right now was pointless anyway, because his feelings would never get reciprocated. Not even when he (kinda) missed the guy. Although Kyuhyun, being the stubborn student that he was, refused to admit defeat to such feelings.
“Hey, are you okay?” somebody spoke to him.
Kyuhyun snapped out of his musings when the two men were standing in front of him. The taller one was holding Siwon’s books. His companion was nowhere to be seen, probably gave up trying to dissuade the other from buying it. “We’d like to get this one, please.”
“Oh sure, I’m sorry,” he stammered an apology. He totaled the guy’s purchase and put the book -Siwon’s book- in a nice plastic bag. “Enjoy reading this one, it’s a real page turner,” the words left his mouth before Kyuhyun realized what he was saying.
The taller guy looked interested, “I know! I’ve been reading all his works but I’ve heard tell that this one is the best one yet. I’m just glad the author manages to get his mojo back if you know what I mean,” he said with a laugh, “He hasn’t been doing too well in the last two books, but this one manages to shoot the best selling chart after just one day!”
Oh. Kyuhyun didn’t know that. Apparently Siwon hadn’t been doing too well previously, he was sliding off the chart. So when he said he wanted to do research, maybe he actually meant that? Kyuhyun thought that Siwon’s life was a breeze, he had everything on the palm of his hand. But maybe it wasn’t as easy as Kyuhyun had imagined it? Had Kyuhyun even try to get to know about it? Or did he just assume everything was going well without bothering to even ask Siwon about it?
The tall guy left, giving Kyuhyun one last smile.
And Kyuhyun didn’t smile back, his mind was still lingering and he began to second guess his own behavior towards Siwon.

“What do you mean we have to return everything?” Kyuhyun frowned.
“I don’t know, the distributor just called me. He said we have to return every single one of those books, and that the publisher would pay us back doubling the price of the original book so actually we don’t lose anything,” answered Creepy Yesung in monotone voice.
Kyuhyun watched as his employer kept stroking the iguana. “Did they say why?”
“Something about this was an official request from the author. Too bad though, his books sell really well,” Creepy Yesung sighed.
*
Kyuhyun debated with himself throughout the whole elevator ride up to Siwon’s penthouse. This was not a good idea. He had even realized that this wasn’t a good idea the moment he stepped out from the bookstore earlier so this was really a bad idea, if not downright foolish idea. He hadn’t seen Siwon for almost a month now, so why he should visit the man now of all time? It wasn’t like Kyuhyun was worried about him now was he?
…….
Okay fine he was worried about him. There. He admitted it.
There must be something wrong with Siwon if he himself requested to pull out the books from circulation. It would not only seem unprofessional, but it would also jeopardize his future career as an author. No publisher would want to work with an author who retracted his works just like that.
So why did he do it?
Ten seconds later Kyuhyun arrived at the familiar penthouse. He thought about knocking or ringing the doorbell, but maybe he shouldn’t. If Siwon hadn’t changed the door lock, then Kyuhyun could still open it using the spare key in his jacket. He then put the key in its place and twisted. The door opened with a click.
Kyuhyun gulped. Okay, so this was definitely the point of no return. Bracing himself, he opened the door further, noting how silent everything was.
The first thing he noticed was how… messy the penthouse looked. Even when Kyuhyun was still living with Donghae in that one bedroom apartment, it wasn’t quite as messy as this. The whole place looked like a hurricane just passed through it. Books that were usually neatly placed on the bookshelves were scattered on the floor, some were opened. Bits of bamboo leaves were everywhere. Takeout boxes, empty bottles of tea and beers were all over the coffee table.
But what shocked Kyuhyun the most was Tao’s condition. There was a fine thin layer of dust on Tao, making him a little bit look like a grey grizzly bear rather than a panda bear.
Siwon always took great care with Tao; he wouldn’t allow the stuffed toy to get this dirty. Something was definitely wrong.
Kyuhyun ventured further inside the place, but he couldn’t see Siwon anywhere. The older man’s shoes were still there though, so he should be inside the penthouse. Kyuhyun checked his watch. Well, according to the other’s bizarre schedule this should be his lunch time so usually Siwon was at the kitchen but he wasn’t there.
There was only one place left Kyuhyun hadn’t checked: Siwon’s bedroom.
The student stood uncertainly in front of the door. He should knock right? He should make sure that Siwon was still alive. Okay. Squaring his shoulders, Kyuhyun raised a hand, prepared to knock on the door when suddenly the door was opened. Siwon stood there, looking the worst Kyuhyun had ever seen of him. He had lost weight, there were dark circles under his eyes and it looked like he hadn’t shaved in days.
“Kyuhyun.”
Suddenly Kyuhyun didn’t know what to say. All the words he had prepared on his way there refused to be spoken. He could only look at Siwon in disbelief. This was the man who was such a neat freak, the one who practically forced Kyuhyun to live in a freaking museum.
Siwon poked him once. And Kyuhyun immediately protested. “Ow, what the hell was that?!”
The older man blinked. “This is really you, I’m not dreaming,” he replied in whispered tone.
“Yeah I’m really here, stop that,” Kyuhyun mumbled. He hated being poked. Rubbing the spot where Siwon had poked him, he didn’t say anything at first, letting the awkward silence be even more awkward. He gulped once, gathering what little courage he had left and finally asked. “Why did you pull out your books?”
Siwon looked at the floor uncomfortably. He didn’t answer immediately and when he did, he spoke in such low tone Kyuhyun had to strain his ear in order to hear it. “Because I lost something more valuable than book sales, I lost you.”
Kyuhyun was still in the middle of processing the whole sentence when Siwon spoke again, this time with determination in his voice. “I’m sorry Kyu, I’m sorry for everything. I’m sorry for not listening to what you’ve asked of me. I was an idiot I know that. I’m sorry for making you believe that I care about Tao more than I care about you when that’s not true, not at all. It’s just, well, I don’t know how to act around you and really, I’m very sorry that I do that rese-“
It was as if Kyuhyun’s body had a mind of its own. Or maybe it was just his heart gained sudden control of his body, Kyuhyun didn’t know. The next thing he realized was that he was shutting Siwon up by kissing the man.
He had heard enough, he had seen it himself. Siwon loved him, the whole messy apartment was the undeniable proof.
And to his relief, Siwon immediately kissed him back. The older man’s arms wrapped themselves around Kyuhyun’s waist while the student was clinging to Siwon like his life was depended on it. Which actually wasn’t so far from the truth. They kissed fervently, tongues playing and danced around each other and when finally it was necessary for them to breathe they pulled away.
Siwon placed butterfly kisses on his cheek, making Kyuhyun wanted to giggle if he could. Suddenly Siwon pulled back and looked at Kyuhyun seriously. “But we have to divide the house chores, Kyu. You’re a mess to live with.”
Kyuhyun tried not to protest because really, that was such a turn off. But maybe he could find a way to deal with that later, for now he only want one thing and so he said, “Whatever you say. Now kiss me again.”
*
-Two months later-
“Siwon! How are you man, it’s been like what, six months?” Donghae’s cheerful voice boomed throughout the penthouse. “How is my brother? Is he bothering you? Do you mind living with him? Is he helping you around the house? Where is he by the way, is he doing well?”
Kyuhyun could hear Siwon’s answering laugh. “Okay stop right there, Hae. It’s good to see you again. Kyuhyun is in the bathroom, he should be here any moment now. Who is this?”
An unfamiliar voice spoke this time. “Hi, I’m Henry, nice to finally meet you Siwon. Donghae has told me so much about you.”
Wait. Did he just say Henry? Kyuhyun’s eyes widened in alarm, realizing that his brother had brought Henry, the Henry who Donghae so vehemently denied having relationship with. Apparently they were a thing now, they must be, otherwise why would Donghae bring Henry here?
Feeling more impatient than ever, Kyuhyun knew he couldn’t deal with this anymore. He wanted to see his brother now damn it, discomfort be damned! He pushed the rest of the anal beads inside himself, tried not to moan when the final two beads went inside with a ‘plop’. Damn Siwon and his research. The man had asked Kyuhyun to put in the anal beads, claiming it was absolutely necessary to know how long a guy could stand having those inside.
One thing Siwon hadn’t mentioned was that these beads would stimulate his prostate every time Kyuhyun moved. With much difficulty, the student walked out from the bathroom. He saw Donghae’s eyes lit up when he saw him and Kyuhyun smiled back.
But not before he saw Siwon’s satisfied smirk. Damn it
-End of story-
Epilogue 1:
Kyuhyun was supposed to vacuum the apartment but the video game he was playing was very distracting. He was in the middle of very important battle when he heard Siwon’s footsteps. He jumped from the sofa and pretended to fiddle around with the vacuum cleaner.
“Siwon, the vacuum cleaner won’t absorb the dust.”
“Oh, I’ll do it later. There’s a little trick to it.”
“Really? Thank you,” he said with a smile. As Siwon hung the newly-washed clothes outside, Kyuhyun got back to his video games. Now where was I, oh yeah, destroying that level 58 mage. Ha! You think you can defeat me with such cheap tricks?
Epilogue 2:
“Changmin, what are you doing?”
“This level 55 warrior just tried to slash me! I can’t believe it, now where is my healing spell…”
