Stereo Heart
Part (1/3)

The raspberry soufflé was indeed very delicious, or maybe it was the company that made it delicious Junsu didn’t know, but then again his brain had stopped functioning fifteen minutes ealier. He took another mouthful of that decadent dessert and nearly moaned out loud. When he opened his eyes, he saw Changmin was looking at him in amusement. Junsu frowned before unconsciously touching his mouth. “What, do I have something on my face? A cream or something?”
“No no, I’m just wondering, do you come here often?”
“Yes, I usually get here once a week, or maybe twice a week depends on how well or bad the week goes. Well actually nothing interesting ever happens to me so most of the time the week is pretty normal I guess. I always take the blueberry cheesecake and share it with my cats, so-“ Junsu clamped his mouth shut. He then blushed. “Sorry, I tend to ramble when I’m nervous, you probably find me annoying.”
Changmin’s mouth quirked upwards. Damn it, there’s that smile again.
“So...” Junsu was still twiddling his coffee mug, “do you come here often?” flustered, because the man was still staring at him and it was getting creepy somehow, he took a hasty sip on the coffee and like a freaking idiot that he was: burnt his tongue again.
Junsu swore it’d make his top 5 most embarrassing moment list.
“Let me see that.”
He blinked. “Huh?”
“Your tongue. Or will you reject me again this time?” A twinkle appeared on those mismatched eyes and Junsu took one second to notice how adorable Changmin looked.
And then like a horrifyingly awkward and embarrassing déjà vu, Junsu remembered the incident when he first met this man. “Oh! Umm, it’s nothing serious, I do that all the time but umm, okay.” He stuck out his tongue, trying not to think how this scene might look like to other people. Few waiters sneaked amused glances at them and Junsu fought down a blush. Come on, it’s not every day you have gorgeous handsome man wanting to look at your freaking tongue.
“It’s a little bit swollen, you should cool it down.”Changmin casually said as he ordered a glass of ice cold water. “Here, this will help.”
The ice cold water did help, but it did nothing to calm Junsu’s fluttering heartbeats. The gorgeous man smiled at him again and the fluttering heartbeat increased twice as fast.

In the next two hours, Junsu had known almost every necessary detail about Changmin. He was twenty seven years old and was a doctor (ohmygod a doctor) specializing in oncology (whatever this is, it sounds awesome), had a younger sister who was still in college, hated crying women, was gay since high school, and currently single (ohmyfreakinggod!).
They had exchanged numbers before parting ways, and Junsu walked out from the bakery with bouncing steps. He’s happy, hearts pounding excitedly and it felt as if he’s floating from clouds to clouds. And whenever Junsu was happy, he felt the need to share it with the happiness with the people he loved. And so here he was, standing outside his best friend-cum-therapist’s office with five bags of cat food in hand.
“Jaejoong! Jaejoong!”
Jaejoong looked up, took one look at Junsu’s grin and the amount of cat food and his face paled. “Okay which one Su-ah, drugs or alcohol influence?”
Junsu shot his friend a withering glare. "Neither," but then his face immediately brightened, "I'm in love."
“Damn it Su, again?"
His happy bubble burst immediately. Why Jaejoong wouldn’t share his enthusiasm? And what did he mean by ‘again’? Junsu knew he might fell in love a little too often compared to other people, but this one was special. This was Changmin with those long legs, supermodel-like body and adorable mismatched eyes.
Two minutes later he was sitting down in a sofa, Jaejoong in front of him looking very much like the therapist he was. “So you met him one time-“
“Twice!” Junsu squeaked in protest.
“Okay twice, and you think you’re already in love? Junsu, don’t you think it’s a little too fast?”

Junsu hated the fact that his twin now lived an ocean away from him. They were always together since they were fetuses and still slept on the same bed when they graduated from university. When Junho told him he had applied for scholarship in Japan for a master degree, Junsu very determinedly refused to speak with him eight minutes straight before his resolve crumbled like a freshly made pie-crumbs.
To his horror, no matter how Junsu had begged and infinite amount of ‘why the hell would you go to Japan anyway, like there was something there you couldn’t find in Korea’ later, Junho was adamant in his decision and left Junsu in Korea.
Junsu kicked out a small stone as he sulked in the park, the five bags of cat food remained with him because Jaejoong was being an asshole (when you realize that I’m your sanity in here, I demand that you pay my therapy fee!). After one phone call went straight to Yoochun’s voicemail, Junsu figured he needed his twin no matter how expensive the international call would be.
“Hey doppelganger,” was what Junsu heard the moment Junho picked up the phone. “What’s up?”
“Life sucks.”
“Don’t tell me you’ve just realized that now?” Junsu realized he really missed hearing Junho’s laugh. He said this to his twin, got a reply of “I missed you too,” and he could almost see Junsu smiled from the other line. Junsu felt better already.
He continued the phone call and chatted with Junho until his balance ran out and the provider’s operator cut off their conversation. It was only by then Junsu realized he should’ve just skype-ed his twin, it would be much much cheaper and he could see his twin’s face.
Suddenly his phone rang and Junsu flipped open the phone without looking at the display, thinking that it must be Jaejoong who wanted to apologize. “I want a three-course dinner in an Italian restaurant complete with the wine and a new Moldir bag.”
“Well, I’m thinking to add an opera show to that list if you don’t mind.”
Junsu choked on his own saliva.

The next day was like a dream to Junsu. Changmin took him to a quaint and dainty Italian bistro that served the tastiest risotto Junsu had ever eaten. And let’s not even start about how scrumptious the chocolate cake they served for dessert. The red wine was perfect although the way Changmin ordered the wine might just be the reason why it was so perfect.
“Spend one summer in Milan is enough to make you speak Italian a little bit better.”
Junsu replied that he visited Bolivia once but it didn’t make him speak Spanish or Quechua better. Changmin laughed really hard after hearing this and Junsu felt like he was soaking in a warm bubble bath.
To Junsu’s utmost embarrassment, Changmin brought him the Moldir bag. It was even in blue, Junsu’s favorite color. He tried to refuse it, he really did, but who knew Changmin could be so stubborn? Junsu ended up accepting the bag after the young doctor threatened him with ‘accept it or we won’t go out again’ talk.
The opera was really good. They sat in the cheapest seats in the whole theater but to Junsu it was the most perfect one. He read the synopsis before the musical began and had pretty much a good idea what the musical was about. Still, he was sniffling and his face was red when Violetta died in Alfredo’s arms. To Changmin though, Junsu said that he had a little too much wine.
Changmin offered to walk him back to his apartment and Junsu felt he didn’t want to refuse so he readily agreed. They spoke about any random topic that might just seem a bit too common but the weird thing was it didn’t feel awkward at all.
Two subway stations and four minutes walk later, they arrived in Junsu’s place. He suppressed down the feeling to invite Changmin in, because no matter what Yoochun said, sex on the first date was not something Junsu wanted despite how perfect Changmin was.
Or how amazing Changmin’s lips felt on his when the man kissed him. It was so soft, no tongues involved, just two lips pressed and molded against each other without proceeding into something else that Junsu might just possibly denied wanting.
“Good night, sleep well,” Changmin said as he stroked Junsu’s cheek. One last peck on the forehead and with that he left, leaving Junsu stood stupidly in front of his apartment door for a minute too long.
Shit. This was all going to smooth. And in Junsu’s love life history, smooth was never in the dictionary. Warning bells began to ring in his head and no matter how much he tried to deny it, the bell turned into a police siren.
Oh crap, therapy fee be damned, I need Jaejoong.

Junsu marveled at the new red leather couch in Jaejoong’s office, swooning at it because leather.
Ignoring Yoochun who was there despite the fact that this was a therapy session that Junsu paid for was easy, but what was not easy was ignoring the fluttering butterfly in his stomach every time someone said that name.
"Okay, I need to see this Changmin.” The butterfly was doing somersaults again.
Junsu sputtered the water he had been drinking, "what? Why? He's not even my boyfriend yet, he'll he might not remember me."
"Susu," Jaejoong said patiently, "don't be so dramatic, of course he remembers you. He gave you that bag and kissed you, how could you say that he might not remember? Is there any reason why you seem reluctant?”
Sometimes it was really hard to come up with reliable excuses and soon Junsu gave up trying to find one. He then settled for the truth, only because it was the easiest thing to do and these were his two best friends anyway surely they wouldn’t make fun of him right? Plucking uselessly at his hem shirt, he looked down and mumbled, “Because I really like him.”
“Say what?” Junsu could hear Yoochun was grinning. “Well, that settled then. I need to meet this guy, preferably in a bar or something.”
“Me too, although I’m sure the bar is more due to you and your obsessive sex game,” Jaejoong pointed drily.
Yoochun smiled. "JaeJae, you cannot spell ‘game without ‘me’ and I have the best game. No one can refuse such thing.”
Junsu's head shot up. "You get within ten feet of Changmin I won't speak to you again. Ever."
“O-kay,” Jaejoong intervened, "I charge by the hour by the way, the opinions don't come cheaper when they're yours. Sit." The therapist glared at him and Junsu had no choice but to obediently flop back down on the sofa with a very visible pout.
“Geez relax will you,” Yoochun rolled his eyes, “I’m into boobs and unless this Changmin person has one I can assure you Su, I won’t be interested. So how about that new bar, can we meet him there? Or somewhere that won’t make you jump him?” Junsu watched as Yoochun took a seat next to Jaejoong and his two best friends exchanged a leer and a fist bump.
Junsu groaned. He felt like he wanted to die. But if he died then he wouldn’t get to see Changmin anymore unless he haunted him so grudgingly Junsu settled for the world of living.
