Heat Wave + Dry Spell = Zilch...

Aug 16, 2007 23:23

I've been going through a bit of a dry spell for months now.  It seems the Penguins are biting a plenty, but I've been feeling too lazy to write anything, which leads to feeling unproductive, which inadvertently leads to more laziness and eventually feeling discouraged.  =(

Sure, there are mornings I'd wake up and think: "Today, I'm gonna sit down ( Read more... )

*hugs!* It shall pass! Just don't worry about it so much, you'll write when you wanna write, really! :)

I know /exactly/ how you feel... mardahin August 17 2007, 07:35:41 UTC
Last year, I wrote more in 6 weeks than I have in the past six months. I am really hoping that this is going to change, now that I've moved 3,000 miles and am no longer doing 18hour/day worth of work, but the lack of productivity has been killing me. I have lists and lists and lists.

So believe me when I tell you that there is someone out there who feels your pain ^_^

I had the same experience the beginning of this year when I wrote "Boys Come Undone". I was hoping that I'd be able to keep writing as I was posting each chapter. That way I'd have another fic ready when I got done posting that. But that's obviously not going to happen, so yeah... I haven't been as productive either, and it's killing me too.

Perhaps the Smut Penguins just need a little rest? Even though I think they've had plenty already! -_-

Sometimes, rest does the penguins good. And sometimes, you just can't rush things. *Hugs* Hope it sorts out soon.

I know exactly how you feel. Re the callouses and the writing. My fingers are so painful every September after the summer holidays! I keep telling myself that I have to keep playing during the holidays, but I can never play as much as I do during term time, so the callouses fade. Cue sore fingers again. I find that violin strings hurt worse, though. What's your guitar like? Steel string, electric, nylon strings? Acoustic steel-string guitars hurt the worst. Nylon-strung guitars are the easiest ( ... )

Unfortunately, I have the acoustic steel-string guitar, so yeah... I guess I got the one that hurts the worst! But the sound comes out a lot more beautifully, imo, so I guess that's a trade-off.

Oh, I know! I don't want to let go of any of mine either! I really want to write them, but they just get so complicated sometimes. And yes, the internet is mighty distracting. There are days when I just want to read other people's work, and that's it.

I've been bugging Hubby to fix that laptop. Hopefully, he'll do it soon.

Thanks, sweetie. Maybe things will change soon... *goes off to work on her calluses in the meantime*

*hugs* I know how you feel. There's so many fics to be written (or typed), but at the moment I just can't, and I end up doing other things (lots of reading...).
I'm sure it's only a phase, maybe your creative batteries just need recharging. Like Sunhawk said, don't worry about it too much.
But if you think having the laptop might help, then get your hubby to fix it for you. Not having internet access can be useful, but then again, you might end up playing spider solitaire or minesweeper ;)

*sends some tea and chocolate, just in case*

Does anyone know of a machine you can plug into your head and download all your fiction fantasies into written form?
If anyone ever invents a machine like that, he'll be a rich man! I know I want a machine like that, lol.

It seems there are times when you'd rather do other things. Maybe the batteries just need to be recharged, even though I feel like I've been trying to recharge them for a while. Maybe they're dead? *shrugs* Lets hope not...

Solitaire? Aaah! No more distracting ideas please! *lol*

I want a machine like that too. *sigh*

Thanks, hun. *hugs* No need to chase. I haven't given up... yet. ;D It seems this non-writing phase is just taking a lot longer to get through.

Did you have a fun vacation? Looks like you were productive too. 12 pages - that's good!
