Chapter 2 - The Advice

I finally arrived at Guangzhou, China a few days ago. I was lucky that my uncle was able to get wireless internet in the house. First thing I did was check my email. I was surprised that I got a reply from Keito with the title, “Hey, do you mind me asking you a question?”.

“Hmm… of all people, why me?” I said to myself. So, I opened the email and saw it was a HUGE long list of dialogue. I glanced at the clock to make sure I didn’t have to go anywhere and sat down in the comfy couch in my uncle’s reading room and started to read…

keito@mail.goo.ne.jp to me

Sorry for asking a weird question so fast, even though we just met each other a few days ago. I’ve noticed something about a few members in the group. I hope you don’t mind me talking about them. You’ll see what question I have to ask at the end of the whole thing. Also, sorry again if it sounds like a story because it sounds better that way =p

I was walking down the hallways of the studio to see what everyone was up to and saw Yuuto sitting in the diner by himself. He appeared to be depressed. Since I usually don’t talk much as it is, I just sat at a table nearby and minded my own business. Chinen jumped into the room as usual with his happy tone. (I’ll translate what they said so it is easier for you.)

“Yuuuuuuuuutttttooooo-rin!  Come play with me outside! There is nothing to do inside here! Yama-chan won’t go with me either. Apparently he is busy as well,” said Chinen with a sad face, but at the same time trying to act innocent to get Yuuto to go with him.

Yuuto looked at Chinen and said, “Please don’t mention Ryo-chan… We kinda got into a fight.”

Chinen stopped jumping and his face turned into a worried one. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, that Ryosuke and I had a small disagreement and now I’m worried a bit,” explained Yuuto.

Chinen asked, “Do you want to talk about it? I’ll listen if you want.”

Yuuto smiled but replied, “No… I need some time to think about things.”

Chinen walked out and I followed him a bit. He scratched his head and wondered what Yuuto and Ryosuke would argue about. I thought myself and couldn’t figure it out.

“Phew! Finally finished with the photo shoot! I mean it, my smile will fall off eventually after so much posing,” whined Daiki.

Chinen bumped into Daiki who came out of the studio from a photo shoot and nearly fell backward, but Daiki’s quick reaction caught him by the waist before he fell.

“You okay?” asked Daiki in a worried tone. “You seem a little out of it today.”

Chinen looked up and saw Daiki up close and turned cherry red. “EH!? Me out of it? What are you talking about? I’m just thinking… That’s all….” Chinen looked away quickly.

Daiki replied, “When did you ever started thinking? Haha!” Chinen walked away puffing mad and red faced. Daiki knew he made him mad and followed to say sorry. He grabbed Chinen by the hand and asked, “Okay, I’m sorry about that. What’s the matter?”

“Daiki, you idiot… (大貴のばか.) It is Yama-chan and Yuuto-kun I’m worried about. They got into a ‘disagreement’ apparently,” whispered Chinen. What Chinen didn’t notice was Yuuto was overhearing the whole conversation behind us.

“I think I know what went wrong. Here is what happened… I was there when it happened in the studio,” explained Daiki.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Yama-chan, where did you go yesterday?” asked Yuuto curiously while trying to fiddle a button on his shirt.

“Oh... I didn’t go anywhere special. I had some business to take care of yesterday that’s all. I had to see an old friend of mine. I haven’t seen her in so long,” explained Ryosuke. He walked over and helped Yuuto button up his shirt.

Yuuto turned red but looked away and remembered what Ryosuke said. “Whose her?”

Ryosuke stopped buttoning the shirt and was quiet. “Just an old friend of mine that’s all. Did you try the cakes in the diner today? They are amazing!” said Ryosuke trying to change the subject.

Yuuto wouldn’t let the subject slide. “Why won’t you tell me Yama-chan? You tell me everything…”

Ryosuke was starting to get short tempered and replied, “Yuuto, I don’t need to tell you everything that goes on in my life. Yes, you are my closest and most cared friend out of the others, but I do wish to have some privacy you know? It isn’t any of your business.”

“FINE! I don’t care about you or whatever you do anyways!” shouted Yuuto in fury.

Yuuto fell quiet afterwards. Inside, he was shattered. Ryosuke went back to doing what he was doing, but he couldn’t concentrate anymore.

“Yama-chan… I thought… I was closer to you than that…” whispered Yuuto to himself.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

“That is the story behind it all,” explained Daiki who took a deep sigh.

“I thought Yama-chan’s temper was better than that… Also, why would Yuuto be so angered over something like that? I mean, come on… They aren’t like they are lov---“ said Chinen, but I caught his mouth before he could finish saying anything else. In the background, we heard crying somewhere down the hallway. Chinen knew who it was and ran towards the source of the sound. The hallway was empty by the time he reached the end of the hallway.

“やばい。おれわばかばかばか。” said Chinen as he hits he head on the wall.

Daiki put his hand on Chinen’s shoulder and said, “You’re not an idiot… We had no idea he was behind us. I am at fault too. So don’t blame yourself.”

I left those two and ran to find Ryosuke to tell him what happened or if I’m lucky find Yuuto. I saw the rest of Hey! Say! BEST! finishing up last touches in the studio and were heading towards the diner. I went over to ask for some advice.

“Kota-san, Kei-san, Yuya-san, Hikaru-san! Can I ask you all a question?” I shouted from down the hall.

“Shoot. What’s up?” said Takaki coolly turning around.

“Umm… If someone you knew was in an argument, what would you do?” I asked shyly.

“Well, it depends on the problem of course. If it was me, I’d apologize if it was my fault. However, if that isn’t the case, I’d try to sit down with the person and talk it out. If not, you can always go old school and write a letter of apology, but those never work anymore if I recall,” said Kota.

“You can always give them something in return as an apology. Is it a girl?” asked Hikaru who gave me a weird look.

“Eh?” I replied looking at the four and then turned red. “No! This a friend I’m asking for.”

“A ‘friend’ you say? Hehe, sounds like someone found him a girlfriend. Come on now, tell us who it is,” said Kei who was poking my shoulder like a kid wanting to know very badly.

I turned around and left them laughing behind me. Though I was embarrassed, I got a few answers. Not sure whether they would work or not though. So I thought I’d go consult Ryutaro about it. I found Ryutaro sitting down minding his own business playing with dominos.

“Yo, if your friend was mad at you, what would you do to apologize to them?” I asked him.

Ryutaro looked at me as if I was crazy asking him this question. “Well of course you go up to them say you’re sorry. Then you can treat them to some tonkotsu soy sauce flavored ramen!” exclaimed Ryutaro, who appeared to be drooling at the thought of ramen.

“….. I suppose that is one way to apologize,” I replied scratching my head again in confusion.

“Why not you try asking “Saimon” about it? Maybe he has a better idea,” thought Ryutaro.

I laughed at how he pronounced your name, but then again, it wasn’t a bad idea, so this is how I ended up sending an email to you. How would you solve this problem? Reply ASAP.

Keito

P.S - Bakamanju ne? Hehe, sounds like something you’d see in an anime. Now I’m hungry…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked at the email dumbfounded. Now I see why he asked me, but now I have to wonder how to give a reply back to him. Apparently Yuuto and Ryosuke are having trouble with their friendship at the moment. So I started to write a reply…

Keito,

I’m glad you sent me an email, I’ll try to answer the question as best as possible. From personal experience, do you think that their “friendship” really is that simple? Have you tried asking Yuuto what he is thinking and how he feels at the moment? I’d do that first and get the story behind it all since it did originate from Yuuto and Ryosuke. However don’t be hasty. I’m sure you can find out what is going on and everything will be fine. Plan it carefully though. I don’t think it is good to cause more trouble than it is. Hope Yuuto and Ryosuke will get better. Give me back a reply when you can. Keep up the work at the studio!

Simon

P.S - >_>….. It isn’t my fault I like Mokona Modoki from CLAMP… And you’re right… Now I’m hungry just mentioning it….
