Job 008 :: The Changing Hands Job [Written]

[There's no denying the last week was a wreck. An enlightening, somewhat entertaining wreck, but still a wreck. Still, in light of all that's happened, there are some agreements that don't feel right to go through with anymore.]

Yes, I thought you might. When should I stop by?

Tomorrow's fine. Might as well, um, might as well take the chance as soon as we can. Given Luceti's general nature.

[Luceti's general nature.

"I could be gone the next day. So could he."

"So I'm failing to see the real problem here beyond mutual fear."

"Either way... someone needs to take the plunge."

"I don't want to mess this up. With him."

Ginia is quiet as she looks at him, the conversations of the day and all the events of last week running through her mind. There was something there, right? It wasn't all fabricated and fake? Their conversation Thursday had been confirmation enough.

Still, she steps in slowly and reaches up to rest a hand on his cheek, still watching him before she leans in and kisses him.

There's the thing about taking the plunge. You never know the temperature of the water until you've already splashed into it.]

[Giles would be lying to himself if he didn't, on some level, expect it. It doesn't help that the experiment led to so many changes in their relationship, mostly pleasant and mostly complicated but all changes.

But...the experiment was over. Things were supposed to go back to normal. Whatever normal was between them, that was...what they were supposed to be now.

Ginia kissing him was supposed to be the domain of experiments and oddities and strange costumes. But then there was Thursday, that Thursday where everything was normal and so very strange...

He hesitates for far too many seconds because this isn't supposed to happen, this love and this nearness, isn't something he deserves. Isn't something he's ever come to expect again. But then Giles rests a hand on her waist and returns the kiss. Hesitation be damned.

Whatever they have, it's nice, and he's tired of questioning it.]

[For too many seconds Ginia is afraid she made a mistake. Whatever normal was between them, this wasn't it, that this was the wrong direction. She's ready to pull away, apologize profusely, go on and pretend nothing had happened, when she feels his hand on her waist and the return of the kiss.

Elation, relief, love, there's so much in the following seconds. She doesn't deepen or change the kiss anyway, she wants to keep this slow and careful, but she treasures every moment. This isn't because of outside forces twisting around the situation or their emotions to fit a story. This is them, this is now, when everything is normal.

Her hands move off his face to rest on his shoulder, she takes a tiny step in closer.]

[Giles doesn't make any effort to change the kiss either. This moment, these moments, here and now, are too precious and altering to be changed in any way. Even now, he's scared of ruining or damaging something.

But she takes a tiny step nearer, and he lets her, and he moves his other hand to rest lightly against the back of her head. And for a while, things just...are. They just are, and he savors it.]

[As wonderful as the moment is, as much as Ginia wishes it could last, there is a thing called breathing to keep in mind. Slowly, Ginia breaks the kiss, blue eyes meeting his, gaze filled with wonder and affection for him. Another kiss, one to his cheek, is offered before her head rests on his shoulder and her hands settle on his chest.

Whatever it is now, it's nice and she likes it.]

I...

[The words tangle and die in his throat. Even now. So Giles just wraps his arms around her and hugs her fiercely. Actions have to speak louder than words.]

[Ginia's arms slide to wrap around him as she presses into him. There are no words needed now, there wouldn't be any that would fit anyway. It's pure elation, relief, adoration, and faint hints of love beginning to bud.

Ginia sighs against him, smiles and savors the moment.]

[Eventually, Giles shifts enough so that Ginia can lean against his side, and he can stand next to her with an arm around her shoulder.]

...shall we?

[Ginia looks up at him and reaches up to hold his hand with her own, smiling and giving a gentle nod.

Yes. They shall.

It's a quiet walk to the Battle Dome. Quiet, but very happy. Ginia holds onto his hand as she walks with him, happy to enjoy the nice moment with him. What they are exactly has yet to be defined, but maybe this isn't the sort of thing that needs any kind of definition. It's very nice, it's very comfortable, and it feels quite right. Why question that?

She only speaks when they reach the Battle Dome, hand still holding onto his.]

/I promise not to let anything hurt you while we're here./

[Giles laughs softly as he pushes the door open for the two of them.]

I feel utterly safe with you.

[Ginia steps into the Battle Dome and smiles, looking around. Oh, you wonderful piece of technology you. She heads over to the panel in the center, selects and empty room and begins inputting orders. No monsters or anything else, just a very nice music store for them to fiddle around with.]

/If this works, and I hope it does, it should take care of one of our biggest problems. I mean, I'd still need to learn how to play bass, but this solves things. Also opens up new possibilities on what we can do./

And...these would be actual instruments, yes? For, um, for our purposes, I mean. We could play them and keep them in tune and all that?

[Watching from a safe distance, fascinated.]

/Not outside the battle dome, I'm afraid, but as long as we're here, they should be every bit as real as a real instrument. I suppose the bonus is if we do get something together and decide to do shows, it'll make setting up and cleaning up much easier./

[The last command is put into the panel and Ginia locks it down with a satisfied grin. She walks over to Giles' side and wraps her arm around his.]

/Ready to check this out?/

Lead the way.

[He won't lie and say he isn't nervous, but...its just music. What's the worst that can happen?

...better get on with leading, Ginia.]
