Third present:

Sheppard looked over at Teyla as she practically hugged the front console of the puddle jumper; the velocity in which they were falling was so powerful that neither he nor Teyla had any say about their movements. The rate of their descent was dizzying to say the least and both of them were having a hard time focusing their eyes as well as remaining conscious from the sheer pressure.

The planet was reeling towards them as they flew directly at it top speed, the controls of the jumper had been unresponsive for far too long now and John barely had the strength to keep trying to flip the levers in hope that somehow, miraculously, they would turn on and send them coasting to safety.

Teyla's eyes were filled with tears as she stared at him best she could; though there was more to her eyes than just the salt water that nearly broke his heart. There was a sadness and a strength both at once, and it filled John with more emotions that he ever cared to allow himself to feel.

The roar of the air as they whooshed through space was practically deafening but John could just make out what Teyla whispered with strained vocals.

"It's been an honor, John."

Sheppard felt a lump form in his throat as he bit back his own tears, taking his right hand and using all his depleting resolve to work it against the gravity and grab hold of Teyla's hand. Their hands held tight together, pressed hard against the dash as Sheppard looked at the woman he had so much to say to but no words to use.

"The honor was mine," he replied wistfully.

He barely felt Teyla squeeze his fingers with her own in response and his heart told him that there was no better place to die, than by the side of the woman you respected, admired, and loved.

And they stayed that way with each other, John still trying to squeeze an ounce of life from their ship, with the hopes that this wouldn't truly be the end but a new beginning.
