This was my prompt and I love what you've done with it!

This is such a great episode fix here. Janet annoyed at Teal'c for carrying Castleman like that is awesome. I love Sam being so thorough and taking notes, and Janet patiently leading her into what is Janet's real goal here - healing her patient. Oh, that feels beautifully right!

Daniel was unconscious for hours, though, not minutes.

Thanks so much for contributing. And doing my prompt. :D

Daniel was unconscious for hours, though, not minutes.
Is that on the assumption that the scenes were intercut in chronological order? If Daniel is out as long or longer than Jack-well, then I rewrote it, because that didn't make sense to me. If he was out for hours, he should not have been walking around the SGC the same day: he would have a very serious concussion, and they should be starting with x-rays to make sure there's no fracture and then moving on to other kinds of imaging to watch for bleeding in the brain.

I went back and forth on this, unable to find any secure chronology, so finally I assumed that some liberties were taken in editing and that events in the SGC were not always nearly simultaneous or after the events in Antarctica. I also needed to make it minutes for my story: if I take Daniel to have been unconscious for hours with no one on the medical staff even demanding to know immediately when Daniel regains consciousness, then Janet isn't concerned enough about concussions to have the conversation with Sam that I ( ... )

::grins:: I love your canon and logic rants! Not to take away from your story, since that was only a throwaway line... but yeah, it's a bit more than chronological (although there's that too). Even if the events in Antarctica are taking place in a different time frame, there's still the sequential scenes in the SGC itself. Daniel's still clearly unconscious when he's in the infirmary when Teal'c reports to Hammond - he's been changed into scrubs, Teal'c has a sling, etc. So clearly some time has passed. And then when he wakes up, Teal'c tells him that in "a few hours" they're sending a probe through the Stargate - and that's after the scene in which Siler told Hammond that no, he's not Scotty :) and 24 hours to fix the Gate can't be reduced to 12 just because Hammond demands it. So that translates, to me, as hours of unconsciousness.

Now, I strongly agree that if Daniel had been unconsciousness for half a day (or more), there is NO WAY he should've been allowed out of the infirmary, much less into the control room. But... well. ( ... )

I've had a concussion. Clearly, the writers never have. And I hope they never do, but I wish they'd at least read about it.

So I fixed that for them.

This is absolutely fantastic. There's never enough Sam and Janet friendship fic out there, and I love this look at the way they respect each other's strengths even so early on. Nicely done as always!

Thank you!

I'm so sorry you've had multiple concussions! The one I had was awful; I hope never to repeat the experience-and I hope you never do either.

I had totally forgotten Teal'c threw someone over his shoulder in the episode until that scene came on screen and I went, "WHAT?!" I was happy to be able to work Janet's response to that moment into the story.

A really nice look into Sam and Janet's early relationship, helping Sam move past her guilt - and dealing with some of the god-awful medical inconsistencies that really annoy me - and others too obviously! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Yeah, some of the medical stuff really bothered me; I'm not surprised it shows.
