I am very sad today

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. died today at the age of 84.

I never grieved the passing of an author like this. I just missed getting to see him at the Mark Twian house two years ago and knew I'd blown my last chance. I'm reading Breakfast of Champions today so I can remember him and smile. The biting humor that blankets the grave seriousness of that book is ( Read more... )

Rest in peace, Kurt. NPR aired a sound bite from his guest appearance in Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School," which never fails to make me laugh -- I'll miss his sense of humor. And so it goes....
