Setting Goals

Hello, all. It's been forever since I've even looked at LJ -- just too overwhelmed with the world at large -- and I've been doing a lot of planning and thinking and trying to figure out how to get control of everything: not letting real-world things get overwhelming, to do enough work (I am doing freelance transcription) to pay the bills without ( Read more... )

It's hard when science fiction/horror become real life. Especially when that's what you like to read. Good to hear from you.

Right? I've moved on to a post-apocalypse novel now, but in this one everyone is pretty settled and there are new communities formed. Cross fingers for no mutants or monsters. LOL

Sure everything is going to be smooth sailing in that post-apocalyptic world. Smirks

Good to hear from you. The world is overwhelming right now so it is good that you are taking positive steps. I'm not here much myself right now - I spend more time on FB - but I will check in again.

So many people are just falling away. LJ is the old lady of the internet.

I also live alone, and have found the isolation very difficult. My guinea pig has helped - when she's here, but I share pet custody. :( Do you have any pets?

Awwww, shared pet custody. That's great that you have a good enough relationship with your ex to manage that. I'm glad your guinea pig helps a little. What is his/her name?

My beautiful cat Cassie passed away a few years ago one week shy of her 19th birthday. Since then I've moved and now I live in the top half of a house but since my friend and her hubby live on the main floor it is just open plan with no doors or anything. Enough time has gone by that I would seriously consider getting another cat, but my friend is allergic. No pets for me. :(

Ah, everyone says that. :-/ Unfortunately the pet custody issue has actually been a major source of stress and depression. But I happily do have the precious babs with me at the moment. Her name is Moo, for the cow-like black and white pattern of her fur.

I'm sorry about your cat. <3 I used to have cats when I was a kid and I loved them, but I became allergic in adulthood. I have found out how loving and smart the smaller types of pet can be, though, over the past several years. All of my guinea pigs have been great companions with a lot of personality. Rabbits can be lovely too, if they get room to safely run around on the floor. It could be something to consider if there's like an animal rescue near you that needs foster homes.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that the rotating households are stressful. Glad that you have little Moo with you now, though! Here's my GP icon in her honor. :)
