It's hard when science fiction/horror become real life. Especially when that's what you like to read. Good to hear from you.

My beautiful cat Cassie passed away a few years ago one week shy of her 19th birthday. Since then I've moved and now I live in the top half of a house but since my friend and her hubby live on the main floor it is just open plan with no doors or anything. Enough time has gone by that I would seriously consider getting another cat, but my friend is allergic. No pets for me. :(

I'm sorry about your cat. <3 I used to have cats when I was a kid and I loved them, but I became allergic in adulthood. I have found out how loving and smart the smaller types of pet can be, though, over the past several years. All of my guinea pigs have been great companions with a lot of personality. Rabbits can be lovely too, if they get room to safely run around on the floor. It could be something to consider if there's like an animal rescue near you that needs foster homes.
