My friend recommended the movie Ichi the Killer to me last night - apparently the version of the Joker that Heath played is based on this character, whose mouth is slit open for a pretty chilling reason my friend told me but I won't spoil for, in case you want to watch it too. Haven't watched it yet, but I really like the apparent reason, and I like to think the Joker did the same. I really really loved that they left the cause of his scars ambiguous. I was so chilled when he told that story about his father, and then for him to turn us on his heads by changing the whole thing around..and I adored that story Alfred told about the jewel thief, because. Well, first of all, Alfred's a fucking badass. But mostly I loved that Bruce is looking for some logic in the Joker's methods, and instead is faced with a person who has no rules, who just wants to "watch the world burn" (AWESOME LINE, ALFRED). And, uh, "We burned the forest down." Jesus. Awesome.
