Jim Protecting His Territory

Hi All,

I remember a specific scene from a story (and little else) and thought I’d throw the question out for this group.  Maybe, someone here might remember the story.

In the scene, Jim and Blair are at a Chinese restaurant.  Blair does not know Jim is a sentinel but Jim does.  Someone comes to extort money from the owners and Jim, sitting ( Read more... )

I think it is either No Way to Treat a Sentinel or Emily Bronson's Detour. No links for either. Ack! I'm sorry.

Maybe someone else can help you more.

Tinnean took "No Way" down for a while, I think to put the three stories into a zine. She revamped and combined them into one story called Passing in the Night

And on further reflection, I think I am quite and utterly wrong about the OP wanting either of the stories I suggested.

Isn't there one by D.L. Blackstone where Blair is a lawyer and Jim is a convict and Blair takes him out to dinner at a fancy restaurant just to annoy the city bigwhigs and it is at the restaurant that Jim hears the scuffle in the kitchen and realizes that he picked up Mandarin just by hearing it in prison?

She wrote the Lawyer Blair series but Jim is a billionaire businessman in that (I think his company makes motorcycles), so that can't be it.
