Payday is still a week away. Bills and various things have eaten all my money including tinned reserves i keep for the zombie apocalypse so this weekend we had multiple wovie nights

Friday:
Maniac Cop: we realised during the week that we'd never seen this. Basically a slasher movie with the most amazing Bruce Campbell and the big chin guy from Tango ( Read more... )

Brendan was right: it was like a long music video punctuated by some random head severings and venous spurtage.

If they'd used maybe one full line of dialogue in the entire thing, maybe we could have worked out what the fucking point was.

yeah it is a strange one, i definately didnt enjoy it as a film with a narrative, but on the other hand after i stopped trying to figure it out it was just sort of an enjoyable athmosphere. the scenery is lovely, its sort of haunting...but... is it a movie?

The extras where the director said he was trying to make a viking sci-fi movie where america was the alien world... he definately succeeds, even though its shot in scotland he does manage to make it seem like another world.

On the other hand i thought its like another version of The Heart of Darkness.. definately not on par with Apocolypse Now.. but a journey up a river away from your civilisation to society more in tune with nature (red in both tooth and claw) that is utterly other and how it can consume you.

Even though the indians seem to be a bunch of tibetan actors leppin around scotland in loin cloths

More for you, if you are so inclined:

- Save the Green Planet: completely, utterly fucked up, but I liked it.......

- Tokyo Gore Police: totally batshit insane, but oddly good

- Tetsuo: you'll never look at power tools the same again

- Dead and Breakfast: zombies and b'n'b's, what's not to like?

- The Hidden: Dude from Twin Peaks! Alien Spider! Ivanova from Babylon 5 dancing around in her pants!

- Sharktopus: is it a shark? is it an octopus? NO! 'Tis the fearsome Sharktopus!

- Deep Rising: Death on a boat, Hentai style.......
