Recs and fictionalized writers

I've stopped reviewing Dexter and will stop watching once this season is over, but may I say, apropos the latest ep: 1.) Bad idea, writers/producers. Really bad idea. And 2.) Most unrealistic therapist ever.

On to actual reviews and more enjoyable fandoms. First a vid rec: Virgin is a fantastic evocation of Antony, Vorenus, Rome and Rome ( Read more... )

If you mnean what I think you mean, I hope Deb isn't going to do anything about it - except possibly over-compensate and push him away.

That's exactly what I mean.

I watched the second part of Miss Austen Regrets several years ago and liked it very much. I keep meaning to sit down and watch the whole thing, but even what little I saw has fixed the mini's version of Austen in my mind. It's impossible, now, to read her novels without imagining that sarcastic, fiscally-minded, caustically brilliant woman speaking.

Casing Olivia Williams was a brilliant choice, wasn't it? She's my Jane Austen voice now as well.

I haven't watched Dexter since the first season, but wow, "Most unrealistic therapist ever" is a pretty impressive accolade given the general standard of TV therapists.

On an entirely unrelated note, have you heard about this?

Found episodes: I have, and was delighted.

Trust me, other tv therapists would shudder in horror at the unprofessianal comment/tactic Deb's therapist employs in this episode.

The latest Dexter Deb-related development is treading shark-jumping waters.

I don't know Austen enough to gauge the portrayal of her in Miss Austen Regrets, which I have access to but haven't watched in its entirety yet. Imogen Poots (of 28 Weeks Later and the Fright Night remake) plays Fanny, and Fanny's love interest is played by Tom Hiddleston, aka Loki from the Marvel Thor movie.

It so is. And that's the crucial relationship of the show.

I saw Tom Hiddleston in the credits at the start and found it hilarious see see him as an earnest vicar with a curly wig, I've got to admit.

That's not a wig: it's his real hair. He had it dyed and straightened for the part of Loki.

I stand corrected. It makes him look like a cherub.

Thanks for the review of Miss Austen Regrets. I'd given it a miss because of the depth of my dislike for Becoming Jane.

Going by the trailer of Becoming Jane alone, they are very different animals!
