Oscar nominations and a film review

Oscar nominations: I squeed when I saw Spielzeugland - aka the one I just gave an award to at the end of the Short Film Festival in Bamberg - got nominated for best life action short film. I really hope it wins, because it rocks and the director, who was at the festival, appears to be a great guy.

Meanwhile, consider me amazed Der Baader Meinhoff

At what point does Valkyrie end? Did Singer include the trials and vengeful executions, or does it close with Stauffenberg's death?

It's a montage. The immediate executions (he put Stauffenberg's last) and scenes from the trials are cross-cut, so we go from Olbricht being shot to Witzleben on trial and Freissler ranting back to Stauffenberg, for example.

Have you ever seen the film of the trials Goebbels ordered but then decided not to show, because even to him it was obvious Freissler came off worse than the defendants?

Despite my loathing for Tom Cruise, I think you've convinced me to see Valkyrie after all. I do love Bryan Singer.
