Wow. I don't even know what to say. That was SO good! Really, really good!

It's rare to get such a moving picture of the Winchesters from an outsider's pov. It makes me sorry that we didn't get more Pastor Jim in the show - maybe we will, with flashbacks, because NOW I want that.

There needs to be a letter writing campaign to Kripke - give us more Pastor Jim and the weeChesters!

Thank you for sharing this - really awesomely crafted and executed.

*blushes* Thank you! This means a lot because we only see PJ for that short time and it makes it so hard to get a handle on him. Never done him before, but this was for a friend who's writing her second PJ fic so I had to do my best. I decided to try and use him as a lens to see the Winchesters better.

Start a letter writing campaign? Heee! Go right ahead. Anything for episodes with flashbacks. Can we have John too?

We really know so very very little about PJ - how did he and John meet, how often did the boys stay with him, did Sam's tendency to pray stem from time with PJ and what about Dean's aversion to it.... So many questions!

Anything for episodes with flashbacks. Can we have John too?
Yes! I mean, now, it's the perfect (only?) excuse to bring JDM back onto the show - there's only so many phone calls from the dead and ghostly visits he can make, right?

I think we do need more about the boys as children - there is so much unsaid, so much we NEED to know!

I think that's what makes your PJ fic so good - it's not about the Winchesters, but gives us these glances at them, so it's nothing huge that might contradict canon, but it's enough to make it all see like PJ was this integral presence in their lives.

Yeah, this is why we all live for those rare flashback episodes to fill in the gaps and give us more information as story background.

*pouts* JDM's too famous now to probably have the time to do it. But I can dream. Even if they gave us kid flashbacks and referred to their father and certain situations that would make me 50% happy.

It was hard to write with so little to go on. PJ has never spoken to me as a character like Missouri or Bobby. But in the end I think I felt I learnt something about him by writing it, and how weird is that?

He had to be integral to justify that huge shock when the 3 of them find out he's been killed, it is like they lost one of their foundations. Poor Pastor Jim.

I like this look at Pastor Jim through the years. I love the conversations between John and Jim.

I agree wiht trulybloom. We need more Pastor Jim. But I doubt if Kripke will give it to us, we will have to settle for Seerargent fic.

You never know with Kripke. If they're going to address the family history (both sides) we absolutely have to have flashbacks and that means PJ and Caleb and BOBBY doesn't it?

Aw shucks, thanks for the last bit. *dabs at eyes with tissues* Damn all this emotion, don't know where it's coming from. Must be Sammy, he's awfully contagious.

A truly telling look at John and his boys and some of the hunting community, and a revealing character piece on Jim himself. A good read. I've marked it--once through isn't enough. I want to come back in a few days and read it again.

Thank you! I took a leap putting Jim in Vietnam, but I'm glad I did (some fascinating research material out there about the experiences of chaplains) because it gave me a greater excuse to deal with his relationship with John. Thanks for reading, and even more for thinking it worth coming back to.

I have fic -I have fic. Wow. Grabs fic and runs for boring conference full of people who state the obvious when culture eats strategy for breakfast and I don't care cause I'm gonna be reading fic under the covers with a flashlight...

*giggles* if you pull a sheet over you in the middle of a conference someone will eventually notice.
