Okay. I know I promised more adorable puppy pix, but I'm going to give you a little report on yesterday's State Fair visit, instead. Tomorrow, I'll do more puppies. See? This way I HAVE to post two days in a row

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the fair. :)
The new pet building leaks? :o :o :o
Nice to see the big ferris wheel is back. I love that reflection picture you took. :)
Very cool that your neighbor won a blue ribbon. :)
Sorry you had to put up with so much rain. :o A couple of years ago I went up on a day that it rained. I wore a poncho to start with, but after a couple of blocks into the fair grounds I turned around and went back to my car and got my umbrella, it was raining that hard that I needed both. :o Hugs, Jon
To be "fair" (ahem), the Pet Center was leaking when the rainfall was at the Mondo-Deluge level, at a "relatively steady drip" rate only, and at 3 points where roof panels met. I imagine tweaking will be done.
I should have noted in my post that MyJeff did all the photography at the Fair. So I'll tell him you like the reflection photo.
You were wiser than we with your prep for weather. I'd even forgot to bring/wear my jacket. Of course, that oversight justified buying a new sweatshirt . . . Apparently, we were so excited and focused simply on going to the Fair that we overlooked several sensible preparation steps. But . . . we had a great day anyway.
A couple of years ago, I went to one of the grandstand shows and was accosted by a security guard because he claimed my camera was a professional one. I came up a day or two later for another show, and I stopped to make a complaint about the incident and never heard a word back from the Fair. I was very disappointed in their lack of care for their customers. :(
I always keep my umbrella in my car. Sure hoping I won't need either umbrella or poncho on Labor Day. :o One nice thing about the rain, it does tend to keep the crowd sizes down. :p
I'm rather surprised the Fair Folk didn't respond in some way to your complaint. I've always thought they were quite concerned about customer satisfaction, but I've never had occasion to test it out.
I used to keep a couple of umbrellas in Mighty Steed. MyJeff cleaned him out at some time . . . BUT, I did stick a little pop-out umbrella in the back pack, so I had that. And, yes, the rain definitely held down the crowds. We heard from multiple sources that Thursday--the perfect weather day--was PACKED with people practically forced to shuffle rather than walk due to the crowding. I'll take the rain, thank you.
It's an example to everyone that we make an experience a good one! So wonderful to catch up and introduce you to Bob. Check my LJ. I have an awesome photo of you two. Please tell Jeff I couldn't call after the Fair last night as my phone died. We made it back to my car at midnight and towed at 1:30am!
Oh NO! "TOWED"?!? You poor boys! Well, at least you had good company and conversation while you waited. I imagine you both enjoyed the concert and all went well with that. I certainly enjoyed visiting with you and Bob. Good conversations on multiple topics are my favorite way of getting to know folks.
I definitely agree that we do each have a great deal of control over whether an event/a day/an expedition is a good one. Bad things beyond our control might happen (dead car at midnight, anyone?) but how one handles the bad as well as embraces the good can make all the difference in the world. Congenial company helps a lot, too!
Love MyJeff's pictures! Especially those ones of the big wheel.
Glad you had a good time despite the weather doing its best to put a dampener on the event. And of course you've got to Eat Plenty, to keep your strength up on such a miserable day!
I'm glad you like the photos--and I'll pass it along to MyJeff.
Yup, having a good time at the State Fair is practically our Duty as Minnesotans! It's a darned good thing we found Plenty To Eat at the Fair . . . could be damaging to one's health otherwise.

It was, as always, an Adventure!
