Characters: Jennifer, Neal Time: Late afternoon Location: Jenn’s room at the Blackstone Hotel Content: Neal checks in on Jenn, and Jenn checks up on Neal. Warnings: None Format: Prose
Late afternoon and Jenn was napping. Having been able to get real sleep, she found herself napping more often than not, mostly because drugged sleep was as good as sleep deprivation. But she was not prepared for the voice that she heard coming from the other side of the door.
Slipping on her glasses, she only realized as she got to the door knob that she was wearing pink pajamas with the word "Tasty" across the butt, her hair hanging down her back as she picked up her cane from the corner. No reason to not be cautious. She had not heard this particular voice since the night at the cathedral, and the fallen angels.
Jennifer opened the door anyway. "Neal...hi. Come on in."
Neal grinned at Jenn when she opened the door, although it was still cooled down from his normal flirtatious smile. He leaned casually against the door frame. "You know I heard this nasty rumor going around saying you've been giving people trouble. I thought to myself, 'no, this couldn't be Jenn' and came to investigate."
Jennifer groaned the second he said something about trouble. She pushed some hair away from her face, hoping her cheeks were not as pink as she felt they probably were, and frowned at him with her best lawyer frown.
"Depends on where you got your information. If it was from Thomas, well he's probably embelishing the truth. If it's from the Winchester brothers...well they're probably being a lot nicer about it than they should be."
She stepped back so he could come inside, waving with the cane. "It's good to see you."
Neal had dealt with lawyers before and only gave Jennifer a wide-eyed look coupled with a rakish smile. "Is that so? Well I guess I really shouldn't believe everything I hear."
He hesitated when she sidestepped, a crack in his confidence. But he covered it up quickly, not moving away from the door. "Same to you. I realized I never actually thanked you for what you did for me a couple months back."
