Btw, to remind myself of the song (which is indeed lovely) I looked it up on YouTube, and discovered that DB is in the official video clip! That was a bit distracting :-)

I've not seen the official video clip - but with how so many people connected with the Buffyverse Buffy-Angel relationship it does not especially surprise me. I know the song lyrics from having come across references in fanfiction works not from vid performances. These lyrics, like the Spuffy relationship, IMO, make a strong comment on the extreme emotional pain that Buffy & Spike experienced.
