Both are wonderful but I do favor the Buffy-Artemis primarily because of the atmosphere and the association of Prophecy Girl and the circumstances surrounding Buffy as the doomed victim which also connect to Spike-Actaeon as the victim. I think both characters were victims of loves that ultimately had to go through the Death-Destruction-New Life cycle. Another connection with the mythological characters I think is the symbolism of "seeing" Buffy hated that Spike could see so much of her that she wanted to hide as much as she hated seeing that Spike, unlike her lover Angel/Angelus, could love without having a soul. I also like that Artemis is a twin to Apollo and that together the twins are symbolic of life, both the heart and the mind like Buffy and Spike warriors.
Thanks ever for the images and the commentary - the Spuffy relationship and B & S are such great and compelling characters.
Beautiful interpretations. I absolutely agree with this: "Buffy hated that Spike could see so much of her". The rest, I hadn't even considered. :) Thank you for continuing what I started and taking it further than I could!
Loved the artwork, and love what you wrote about it. I agree that Artemis and Actaeon are not a classic lovers duo, but isn't that (not being an obvious pairing), a huge part of why Buffy and Spike are so interesting when they are taken as a couple?
"Over the shadowy hills and windy peaks she draws her golden bow, rejoicing in the chase, and sends out grievous shafts.... the goddess with a bold heart turns every way, destroying the race of wild beasts..." Thank you, glad you enjoyed! :))
(I'm all kinds of excited about what you just posted, but saving it for when I'm properly awake)
