Oh PERFECT. Will comment more on EF but loved this beyond the telling. Spike and Spike bonding (of sorts) offers all sorts of fun on the road.

Yup, knew there would be a delay which is why I commented now and plan to on EF too. Really wonderful story. This chapter should grab readers who haven't started it yet too. It works stand-alone with the background you gave at the start.

Great! I'm glad that worked. I thought it would be enough of a background to make it understandable. There are, of course, a few road trip chapters (basically all the rest of the story), but I thought this first one showed the most about Pup!Spike the Spike/Spike relationship and, of course, anytime we can let any Spike snark on Angel is a good thing!

Eee, what an experience Spike's car is! ^^ As is eating in a car with Spike.

A friend of mine has some young kids and when visiting a relative who had an old car, they couldn't figure out how to roll the windows down -- had never seen cranks on windows! Oh man ... technology has moved so fast!

Well, that was fun! Thank you very much for sharing, and for introducing me to the joys of Puppy Spike. :)) The rest of the story was well worth a read, too, though I'll probably be too preoccupied to keep up with future chapters.I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had planned this to be a one or two chapter thing to post it all in one shot here for the challenge, but, clearly, my muse is evil and when I say stupid things like 'this will be about 3 chapters' he ends up giving me 100. This one ended up around 18, but still ... he has a hard ( ... )

Having Buffy and Spike go on a road trip together is always enjoyable, but what an extra fun idea to also throw a dog into the mix! Pup!Spike reminds me more than a bit of Harry Dresden's Mouse. This makes me think it might not have been a coincidence that they got their food at Burger King :-)

Haha! You are the only one who put the Burger King together with Dresden, and pup!Spike to Mouse. He's not the same type dog as Mouse, but, yes, there are absolutely similarities and Mouse was certainly the inspiration for him.

I do admit, however, that I googled what food chain had the best rated onion rings for Spike, and Burger King was up near (or at) the top, which worked out nicely all around!

Oh, I love that about the onion rings -- now that's a well-researched story! I also like that you can see the Spike-ish influences in pup!Spike -- he seems more of a rebel than Mouse, who I think would be too well-behaved to pee in anyone's shoes, even a vampire's.

haha! Yes, I think you're right about Mouse. Pup!Spike is certainly a rebel with his own ideas of right and wrong, and sometimes just staking by on technicalities. :)

He is absolutely a combination of Mouse with lots of Vamp!Spike attitude.
