You've really captured everyone's voices beautifully in this, especially Buffy.

Joyce squeezes Buffy’s hand. “You have to go, sweetheart. There’s a better chance for everyone if you go.”

“Mom, no…”

Joyce smiles and squeezes her hand again.

“So,” Spike says, breaking the silence, “When do we leave?”

And now the two of them are off.

Thanks so much! I'm glad the voices ring true.

And now the two of them are off.

Simply had to get those two crazy kids alone together, now didn't I?

Your every icon is supremely appropriate with every comment you leave--I'm in awe. ♥

Brilliant chapter. I envy people who can write action - it's one of the things I completely suck at. Your action scenes are vivid and visceral, they place the reader in the middle of the scene. I adore how you intersperce the action with occasional line from the canonical version. "Don't hit the horsies" - I'm sure that Willow would have said it in any reality! :)

Thank you so much. I can't say if I've ever deconstructed how I write action scenes, but I'm certainly glad they read well. I can say that I have a very vivid imagination about these sorts of things and that growing up, I was just as likely to watch Bruce Willis blowing up buildings and Jean-Claude Van Damme unleashing martial arts as I was to watch Disney movies and chick flicks. So action and fight scenes are pure pleasure to visualize. As for writing, I think it's just about staying as close to the character as you can--what they see, what they feel, what they do.

Hee! Willow would definitely say that line in any reality. DeKnight had some great one liners in this ep. I think Spiral is a bit underappreciated--I think it's great fun.

Ohhhh, boy. Great reworking of the Winnebago/knights fight to suit your twisted version. Losing Buffy to labour instead of catatonia... ouch. Can't wait to read more, so I'm going to stop commenting and read on!

Ahhhhh! *flaily hands*

Not a lot of comment here, except that that's pretty much the same reaction I had to the original "Spiral," so you must be doing something right. *g*

I think it's underrated, too. It's all actiony! It's way more action-movie than just about anything else in the series, plus I always enjoy when the show gets off the set, out of the lot, and into the real world. It feels so much more genuine. Plus, oh, suspense! And great scenes with Spike - "something heroic" and how he's kind to Tara when she burns him, not to mention the scene where Xander lights his cigarette.

I mean, what's not to love?
