That is, hands down, my most favorite of all birthing articles and the first thing I ever show a woman looking to VBAC or any women told their pelvis is "too small"

Yeah, I've loved it for so long it surprised me I had never posted a copy of it here. 'Bout time!

Yeah...so last night I worked up the courage to examine my pelvis. Despite as wide as my hips appear I came to the realization a few months ago my pelvis really isn't that wide. Examination on the inside proved this as well...and the placement of my tail bone is really weird. That would explain why during my pregnancy with Robbie my hips were falling apart the whole time. My body knew I had a big baby and was releasing all the hormones to make sure he fit through.

Pretty amazing, isn't it? I've been told I have a small pelvis and blah blah blah. I'm betting it's true since I grow such small beebles and spread out all over the place, hehe.

Gloria is great fun and a wealth of information. She needed pregnant bellies for her students to measure and listen to etc., so once a week, I attend a midwifery clinic at her place. Basically, we sit around a talk birth for a couple hours.

Yep, really. She's actually the one who lends me the home and waterbirth videos that I keep inflicting on Jason. ;-)

The only reason I've gone with a registered midwife instead of Gloria is that due to her legal battles, she does not touch a woman at all. I suspect this is due to a combination of philosophical and legal reasons. What that means is that if a woman is in trouble, she'll make the call to transfer her, but she will not do stuff like uterine compression. I've had uterine compression, and it's the worst pain I've even been in, but if it's the difference between that and losing so much blood that I end up in the hospital for several days (which happened to someone I know), I'll take uterine compression. Due to my previous hemorrage, it's the only way Jason would even consider another homebirth

That makes a lot of sense, though I also see where she's coming from, too. Gosh, it must be hard for her to practice that way! I have a lot of respect for her. I'm very blessed to have the dh I do. It's a shame I can't hire her for my next birth, as long as she told him what he needed to know (provided I didn't) he'd do it himself without a second thought. But then I only need to consider hiring one for legal reasons.

When are you due? Aren't you getting close, now?
