Me, the Robert Redford of frogdom!

Puplet and I watched part of the first episode of the first season of The Muppet Show yesterday morning. It was still awesomely good (and funny) and the first performance was of Manamana. Ah, they were genius right from the get-go, weren't they? (Puplet also loved it. Yes, I let my 10 month old watch 70s kids' television. I sat right there ( Read more... )

I used to love how her British accent would come out on "What is he like? HUH? What is he like, anyway? {Gigolo!} LOL.

Yeah, I know I wouldn't personally have been comfortable bringing my baby to a vid show; he would've been so distracted by all the lights! But that is an individual parenting thing.

I wish, I wish, I wish that people would stop assuming maliciousness instead of accident or ignorance or even different (but relevant) life experience.

I so agree. What is that about? There are things that I'd like to write about on my journal, but I'm actually afraid of what people would say to me. How sad is that?

It's certainly one of many reasons I have been leery of engaging.

I have to say I'm with you on the infants and children - I support breastfeeding wherever the mother is, but, yeah. I mean, I haven't been back to VVC since 2007, because in 2008 I had a baby. When he was 3 months old, he was still in the sleeping and nursing phase, so maybe I could have gone, except I can imagine nothing less fun for the parents of a three-month-old than an epic trip and a stay in a distant hotel - and of course it would have been especially awesome for BB, trapped in the hotel room with the earthling in between nursing bouts.

At 15 months, we could maybe have managed - he was still in his easy phase then - except, you know, we moved.

This year, we didn't even consider it. Two-year-olds do not jibe well with planes and hotel stays and travel generally, as we have learned the hard way.

Maybe next year he'll be ready to travel, or weaned so I don't have to take him with me. That's our current hope.

*nodnodnod* I know talking with AHH about how we're going to work this year, it was a lot of "well, I'll miss this half of Friday and this half of Saturay" and so forth, because I don't want him to be all alone in the room with Puplet all day. (It's almost enough to not go, especially with the expense of traveling; I haven't actually bought our plane tickets yet because there is part of me still wavering, and all of the recent stuff going on has not really helped matters, heh.)

And I also realized that ultimately it's not even a breastfeeding question for the con, it's a 'should children be allowed around' question, because focusing on the breastfeeding does leave out formula fed babies; it all just gets very tricky and weird and I have to say I wouldn't want to have kids running around the con spaces myself, as someone who LIKES kids. So, IDK. It's tough.
