LJ's new spoiler-cut script?

Has anyone tried out LJ's new LJ-spoiler cut-tag thingy? I've seen some comments that there are problems if you're using a screen reader, or if you're accessing LiveJournal via a tablet or iPhone/BlackBerry/etc, or possibly if you're reading LJ comments in your email. You can check out

This sounds like exactly the kind of half-assed thing I've come to expect from LJ lately. First with the new thing that doesn't respect what is behind a cut in 'popular' comm entries (hello, if people wanted just anyone to see it, they wouldn't be using a cut), now this. I think Facebook has secretly taken over LJ; they're all about sharing every single thing about you ever without letting you opt out. ::sigh:: I'm glad you posted about this.

Wait, wait. WHY would LJ make it so that popular comms don't respect the LJ-cut? That's so half-assed! As if big comms don't have to worry about spoilers or NSFW content or any other reason for using a cut-tag, just like small comms do?

Oh, LJ. I don't understand you sometimes.

Yeah, I know. They put in this new feature to 'highlight' the most popular comm entries by how many people view the entry and put it on the LJ home page. Fine, whatever, not like I have any interest. Then two separate people post about how there were several posts from kinkmemes up there, and another from a comm that helps people figure out how to write plausible sex, and the graphic details, originally under cuts, were displayed as if there was no cut at all, regardless of how you view the posts. Finding that out sort of blew my mind, because, hello, private posts anyone? Now this. Ugh.
