This is well written and very interesting. You really recreate the mood of Sam's early attempts and corresponding failures to exorcise demons as well as Sam's mixed emotions about accepting anything resembling a human reaction to or from Ruby, something that she obviously preyed on with him. He was just so wrecked and alone at the time. *poor Sam*

I also suspect that you are very smart indeed to hint without saying it straight out that Ruby also may have taken advantage of Sam's "failures" to pull demons when he was just using his existing powers because she knew he wouldn't be able to do it and did so to lure him into the whole downward spiral (whatever it turns out to be as in how low or dark Sam ends up because of having done it) that would be set off by drinking her blood. That fits so perfectly with the cunning and deception of a demon that I hope we find out that she did do it that way on purpose! Is that what you were going for? Either way, nice work, short, sweet, and evocative of that time in Sam's life.

Thank you for your wonderful comment! I'm very happy to hear your thoughts on the story.

It was the only way I could reconcile the Sam I know with the demon blood drinking. Sam would never have agreed to that, unless she either tricked him into it, or hit him with the 'solution' when he was at an absolute low and vulnerable. In the end, I went with the second scenario. So, yes, definitely where I was going. I just hope Show is going to deliver on its promise in this regard...

Ah ... I am pretty sure this is *exactly* what happened.
