Your work situation really sucks. I've been having a lot of work-related issues lately--mainly due to certain powerful people being utterly incompetent and underhanded. It's a bad combination, but at least I'm not being overtly demeaned. All you can do, though, is be yourself, trust that you have good ideas, and believe that your good ideas will protect you from the bullshit.
As an aside: I watched a Dog Whisperer marathon over the weekend, which made me realize several things

Ahhh... thank you for the commiseration! Reading this actually helps a great deal. Work proceeded to get worse again after I wrote the above last week, and I don't know what to expect this week (I took today off to mountain-climb). I know that I can do good things here, I just have to figure out *how*.
