Gnosticism, Orphism, and Hermeticism

As I take my time these days venturing forth into researching Gnosticism and Orphism--and I am amazed at the similarities between the two, as Gnosticism has borrowed terms from the Orphics--I am reminded of why, once again, I cannot venture forth too far into any particular stream of thought in any religion or religious philosophy ( Read more... )

Yes, that bugs me about Gnosticism too.

--This is a world of blight! Decay! The Accident Worlde and Flawed Emanation that can only be Horror and Torture! I do like however how they say that the Christ-figure represents relief from ignorance, not sin. And the spark is within.--

I like your philosophy.

Yes, I can't stand that viewpoint. You can transcend the physical world without despising it. The physical and the spiritual worlds are just two sides of the same coin--and we live in that coin.
