Man, I hear you about the 'taking a break' thing. I took a break from late '90-'97 or '98. I really wish I hadn't done that.

In 1990 I was living going to college and living solo in a single-bedroom apartment. I had taken a creative writing class the semester before I moved, and I still had the fire. I started a fantasy novel, worked on it a little bit over a two-week period, and had about 30 pages written on it before I put it away. I was so close to forming all the good habits that writers need!

Man on my college novel I must've rewritten those first 30pp a hundred times and I still couldn't make it come together. I finally wrote that book a couple of years ago, but it still wasn't good enough for me. Maybe one day I'll rewrite it to the point I'm satisfied.

Hopefully something will come of the one I'm trying to sell now.

Did you ever go back and finish that novel? What was your experience?
