Losing right for the "pursuit of happiness" a little at a time.

It's really easy to forget how corrupt the government is when you go along, oblivious to what's actually been going on around you. Which is basically what I've been doing ever since the summer started. It's wrong of me as an American citizen - but then again, as an American citizen, I can pretty much be as uninformed as I prefer.

Now, I know about ( Read more... )

government, senate bill 5, women's rights, governor kasich, heartbeat bill, ohio

Ugh, what utter bullshit. I'm not personally in favor of rampant abortions, I think people should be responsible and use birth control, which really is extremely effective if you're not stupid and forget your condom one time or something. HOWEVER I don't think I have the right to enforce my opinion on the matter on everyone. And I absolutely do think that a woman who's been raped should have every opportunity to have an abortion and NOT be judged for it.

Also, weapons in bars? I echo your WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Yeah, I'm not for rampant abortions either - as my mother put it, she doesn't approve of abortions as a method of birth control. But just taking that freedom away from women when it's already hard enough of a decision is just not up to the people that govern our state!

& ikr?

Given the expense and pain associated with abortions, it seems unlikely that anyone would use them as a method of birth control unless the pill and condoms and Plan B had failed. This is a misconception (heh pun) perpetuated by people who have never had an abortion.

But dude seriously, the fetus has more right to life than someone enjoying a private drink next to a closet psychopath. That's what I understand, from these bills being proposed at the same time. Add the anti-union bill, and everyone has the right to be a corporate slave. The poor and stupid are the least likely to rise up and demand rights, right?

Right.

I see what you mean about the misconception part, but at the same time, I know there will still be uneducated people out there who think, "Ah, I can always get an abortion if it happens."

This. :/

Ohio's government is subject to a crazy amount of conservativism, all of the sudden. Seriously, mobilize your moderates, or pregnant women will be driving to Pennsylvania and sex education will happen in basements or rooms with the window shades drawn.

Sadly, this seems like it will be the case. Curse the idiots who voted in Kasich. Maybe we needed a change, but we definitely didn't need his change. The conservatives running Ohio are making me want to throw up in my mouth.

Indeed, the weapon bill is total bullshit. I don't get people.

Abortion is a tricky issue indeed. My stance changes as I learn information. I'm not sure what my response would be if given the circumstances and hopefully I'll never be in the situation where I would need to abort because it's a tough enough decision as it is without the government having to weigh in on it as well.

I think people should be free to make their own judgements and as long as everybody involved can live with the outcome, I'm happy.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
