First things first, Kalium, I wasn't aware of your name being from any particular source or anything, so it seemed humourous that this cropped up on Magic Online:
I can't remember. It was a sequal to an earlier book. Basically, the first one was about a girl winding up in the Land of Algebra. The second one was the same girl winding up in the next-door Land of Chemisty. In Chemistry, the assorted elements and isotopes were actual entities (horses, in this case), including the old names of certain elements. "Kalium" was mentioned, but not an actual character, so it seemed like a good name.
Also, consider the University of Michigan. There's a sizable international contingent here, and I'm pretty sure at least one of the mathematics professors is British.

Out of curiousity, which book?
Oh, and btw, be glad you're not that guy- he had the single worst ratings I've ever seen, online or offline.
