CHARACTERS: distinctive_guy and YOU DATE: Dec 05 (Day 22; Afternoon) RATING: Possible swearing? SUMMARY: Eliot's back in the kitchen cooking. Or making food anyway. For once it's not big portions.
Hannah had been feeling lazy lately. She was a demon and she was supposed to be a maid. Not doing any of her duties seemed wrong to her and even though she did not have a master to serve, she still felt the need to do something.
Finding someone else in the kitchen, though, she bows. Everybody was always somewhere, there was no privacy in this place.
Ignore the bandage part if you're playing her without it.distinctive_guyDecember 6 2011, 04:30:20 UTC
Eliot looked up, startled when someone suddenly appeared in his peripheral vision without him actually hearing first. That... well, that was really something.
Yet, by the time he was turning around to greet the sweet voice, all traces of surprise had been smoothed into a casual grin. He took in the appearance of the other with a quick glance, not even lingering on the bandaged eye, and noticed that whatever allowed her to mask the sounds of her approach was not something he could casually discern.
Probably more weirdness from this island.
He smiled to put her at ease. "Help you with somethin'?"
She has the bandages!learnedloveDecember 7 2011, 05:33:43 UTC
The smile doesn't seem to change anything and she gives another bow, her head down as she looks down at the floor.
"I am sorry, sir. I was only meaning to do something in my time, but I do not want to get in your way." She takes notice of all the food he's made. "Especially when you've had made so many things. I will leave."
The politeness raised Eliot's eyebrows to his hairline and he spent a moment cocking his head just watching the young woman in maid's clothing. "Hey." Calling to her before she could leave, he waited until she was facing him before he gestured to the open kitchen.
"The place ain't mine, darlin', you won't be gettin' in my way. I'm almost finished here anyway."
She does stop, but though she does turn back to face him her gaze never seems to leave the floor. No matter where she is or how things are different in this world, some things won't change. It also helps making people easier to deal with.
"I wanted to possibly make dinner for some people, but you made so much of it..." She pauses. "It is impressive, sir." She's still not doing anything because she's still not sure about doing anything in front of other people. There are many different kinds of people here and she doesn't need anybody to figure something out about herself.
"What? This?" Eliot scoffed at the few sandwiches that were on the table. "No, man, this is barely a meal. Nah, if you want the kitchen, you go ahead. Really." He smiled although he could see she really wasn't looking up at him.
"And I'm not spread on the floor, sweetie. Why don't you look your sweet gaze up this way, hm?"
Though the choice of wording makes her internally scowl, she looks up to him as he talks to her. He's not her master, but she'll do as he wants if it's as simple as looking at him. With the way he's talking, she thinks he is probably from another time.
While she is looking up at him, she is not making eye contact. "It is still impressive, Mister...? I am sorry, I do not know your name."
"Eliot, just Eliot. 'Mister' was my daddy." He was disappointed that she still wouldn't meet his eyes, but baby steps, it will eventually happen. Chuckling, he leaned into a relaxed position against the kitchen counter. "Don't think I caught yours either."
It doesn't really feel right calling him just by his first name and so she only nods. You're supposed to show manners. Hannah does a small curtsy when she introduces herself. "Hannah Anafeloz, servant of the Trancy Estate." She then bows her head. "Sir," she adds on.
Eliot already guessed she was servant of somewhere, it was nice to have his theory verified. However, that mindset won't get her anywhere on the island and he wasn't afraid to point it out.
"Well, Hannah, think things might be a little different on this island. Ya really don't have to call me 'sir'." But he won't insist it if it would make her uncomfortable. "Are any of the Trancy Estate here with you?"
She'd already been told many times that things were different on this island and she had seen it for herself. But it was vital for her to keep acting this way and so she only shakes her head.
"No, my master is not here with me." Hannah actually does seem saddened by that and that isn't an act, not that it's very noticeable considering she's always acting.
Finding someone else in the kitchen, though, she bows. Everybody was always somewhere, there was no privacy in this place.
"Excuse me."
