[Some time after he sees Lucius' broadcast, Charles finally arrives at the East dorm, despite his wheelchair giving him every problem it possibly could.

And how could he not come when Erik, as well as the other residents, had just been thrown into a situation like this?]

Erik? Answer me, Erik! [Pressing a finger against his temple with more force than strictly required, Charles grimly hopes Erik chose to leave the damned helmet off this time.]

[Bruce jerks in place. He's pressed up against the door of his dorm room, about to crack it open a sliver and slip out. There's something going on -- he's hearing all sorts of things-- and he wants to investigate.

Except for that part where something's talking to him in his head. His heart starts to race. Usually it talks to him like that. Wait, no, this was distinctly someone else. Someone with... an accent?]

Who is that? [he breathes, forcing himself to calm down. It's something he's practiced a lot, so it doesn't take long.]

[Charles, of course, isn't expecting to catch the tail end of something like fear and--did this man just think someone else speaks to him mentally?]

I apologise for startling you, my friend. I'm Charles Xavier--a telepath. I'm looking for a man named Erik Lensherr, also living in this dormitory.

[Bruce focuses on trying to answer the same way - not out loud, so as not to call attention to him. His experience with the Hulk makes his attempt a little less clumsy than it would've been otherwise, but it still feels a bit like a child feeling his way around.]

I know him. He's in 224. Do you want me to get him for you? I'm not sure what's going on out there. [This is the second or third time someone's mentioned Erik to him without him bringing it up. Must be a popular guy.]

[If Bruce is still paying attention, he'll hear what might sound like a sigh ruffling through his senses.] No, it's quite all right. I suspect Erik would no longer be in his room, even if you did go through the trouble. Last I spoke to him, he was intent on finding the ones responsible for sealing your dormitory.

[It's around this point that Charles can no longer contain his curiosity.] I hope you don't mind me asking, but I couldn't help overhearing your thoughts earlier. Have you encountered another telepath on this island?

If you change your mind, I'll have a look, [he answers, letting the topic fall. He's not keen on taking a risk with provoking the Hulk by entering the fray, but if it's important he won't let that stop him, either.]

... Not a telepath. [There's a flash of garbled image, like static through a television-- a car being thrown into a crumbled, burning building-- a black-haired woman staring up at you, distraught and open-mouthed-- frantically yelling men-- roaring--

All that lasts a fraction of a second before Bruce has it under control. He's practiced long and hard precisely to get his flashbacks managed.] It's complicated. [He really doesn't want to explain more than that.]

[Eliot didn't appear on site until sometime after the initial beginnings, after he exhausted other ways of getting a visual inside the building.

When he finally did, it was only with intention to do a cursory perimeter scan. Maybe he'll proceed from there.

He came to a halt when he found a familiar chair-bound man just outside its doors. His soft footsteps approached soundlessly behind Charles.]

What're you doin' here? This place ain't safe right now.

Looking for a friend of mine. [Though he answers Eliot's question, Charles does not draw his attention away from the building, or the residents he's begun speaking to.] I would hope he hasn't already gotten himself into trouble, but doing so would be rather naive of me.

And what about you, Eliot?

[Eliot's expression tightened when the answer and question prompted a flash of Parker across his mind's eye. Yet instead of replying with the same answer, he chose to go with something more altruistic but no less true.]

Lookin' to see if anyone needs help.

[He directed his gaze to the doors then Charles, pointedly not looking at the chair he's in.]

You should be leavin' this to others.
