the girl that won't get married...

Yesterday we had a big YSA conference with all the singles' wards in the Portland/Vancouver area. We don't hang out much together because even though Oregon is like 15 minutes from my house (it would be less but you have to get to the bridge. That river causes problems...) But we’re in different states (Oregon is the land of tax-free goods) and ( Read more... )

you know, it is easy for married people to say how "easy" it is to find someone to marry. It really isn't the case when you have so many boneheaded men these days who aren't even living worthily of such a great person as you.

I am totally with ya, Sarah. Call in hand? For me, that means no looking back.

My dad slipped a letter into my luggage when I left for the MTC. I read it my first night there. There was a lot of love, support, and spirit in that letter. But one thing that I do remember is that he said something like, "If you start to miss some certain someone while you are there, and decide to come home for marriage, okay, but that once you make it to your mission field, I expect you to stay the course."

I read that and thought, "no problem, dad! No way am I changing my focus now!"

that makes me so sad- no one should ever feel pressured or rushed to get married. i'm almost 30 and i got married when i was 24 or 25 (too tired to do the math) and i sometimes wish i'd met my husband LATER. i love him and we met at the right time for both of us, but if i'd met him later i could have had more time to learn about myself and make decisions that were just about me and read more books and start more blogs and get more degrees and travel more (i'm super jealous of you sometimes =). i think even the most evangelical crazy- which it doesn't sound like your ga was-will tell you that it's better to be unmarried than with the wrong person. it's nice to share your life with someone, but not at the cost of you- if someone wants to go on a mission they should do it- if it's meant to be it will be. gosh that made me a little heated =) love ya lots sarah!
