So I was re-reading this when these two lines just jumped at me...

"Are you preparing for the chance you have to identify my body, Jacky-boy?" she teased.

and

Grinning, she added, "And I could probably choke someone with it if I got desperate."

Why does it seem like foreshadowing? :)

John's and Chloe's conversation was just heart breaking: for him, I that a thirteen-year-old is the only person in his life who isn't so caught up in her own expectations regarding him that she can listen without freaking out, and, in a way, heart breaking for her in that it'll be years later, when she understands that some ideas we thought were excellent at the time are really mistakes, and that life gives us very few, if any, opportunities to really right our wrongs, that she will know what he meant. Nevertheless, he still does what he has the power to do at the time, which is to help her with her homework, which was probably good therapy for him
