It's a little part from the book (Shikkoku no Tsuki no Utage), which concludes the 'Sa Province' story line.
It's Sakujun's 'death' scene in the book. The part the anime skipped. (Sorry for the mistakes, grammatical and otherwise.)
Sakujun sighed.
He thought, when he dies, he will just go, without any regrets. Having done everything he wanted to do, and getting bored by everything, suddenly one day, will run out of any motivations to keep on living.
But look what happened.
He has regrets after regrets, it’s absurd. I wanted her to call my name. I wanted to hear her erhu more. I wanted to spend more time with her. I should have given more thought and be more shrewd to plan a different beginning. …… I wanted her to say she loves me.
-- You didn't call my name, either!
I shouldn’t have stayed at her level and been satisfied with a puppy love.
--You want to live--?
Hearing the voice that sounds like crawling on the ground, Sakujun sighed.
“… you came again.”
--I’ve been observing you for a long time, and you are the most interesting.
Oh, yeah, Sakujun muttered.
“That may not be bad…”
There is no Moon in a starry night.
It’s all right. It’s suitable. Being born in a moonless night of the First of Month, and then…
With a barely wry smile on his face at the last moment, Sakujun’s arm fell to the ground.
So, they will leave for Kiyou in the next episode... I am so sad that they skipped the side story which I think is pretty... daring and important.
