Just tell me how I got this far
Just tell me why you're here and who you are
Cause every time I look
You're never there
And every time I sleep
You're always there
Cause you're everywhere to me
And when I close my eyes
It's you I see
You're everything I know
That makes me believe
I'm not alone...
I'm not alone
Lucy Pevensie was now an 18 year old growing up in London since it was her birthday. When she had fallen up the night before she thought of her 18th birthday when she was in Narnia. Mr. Tumnus had written her a song and he and some of the Fauns played it for her. It was one of the sweetest things anyone had done for her. Peter had thrown her a gigantic ball and she spent the night laughing and dancing with her many friends in Narnia. A few years went by and then they were spit back out of the wardrobe and into Spare Oom as Mr. Tumnus had called it.
At the time Lucy felt like she had been abandoned. She felt like Aslan had left her. As she thought of Aslan she smiled. Whenever she thought about him she felt like it was the start of the summer holidays. But ever since she had come back to London Aslan was in her dreams but she couldn’t find him here.
Lucy was lucky because she did get to go back and see Narnia twice more and she always had the strongest connection with Aslan out of her siblings. Susan who in Lucy’s opinion had the weakest connection with him was the first to fall away. Susan cared more about boys and lipstick than the Great Lion who loved them all and died for their brothers, Edmund. Once Lucy saw the change in Susan she never brought Narnia up to her brothers because she was afraid that they would laugh at her like Susan. Lucy was sure that Aslan was out there somewhere, he never lied but she just didn’t know where.
The dreams she had at night made the longing she had to know The Lion again harder to deal with. She dreamt of ruling at Cair Paravel, saving Prince Caspian, and of the sea girl she saw under the sea when she was sailing on the Dawn Treader. Aslan was in these dreams. She always awoke when she saw his face.
Deciding it was time to put the whole Narnia thing to rest if it was untrue because she was now an adult Lucy sought out her brothers. She bumped into them in the hall as she left her room. They were carrying a breakfast tray and outside her door. Lucy smiled.
“Happy Birthday Lu!” Edmund exclaimed wrapping her in a hug. Peter put the tray down and did the same thing. Lucy shut the door and sat on her bed trying to figure out just how to start this conversation.
“Lu we need to talk.” Peter looked very serious at the moment.
Edmund on the other hand could not wait and blurted out, “Do you still believe in Narnia Lucy?”
“Yes,” Lucy said slowly choosing her words carefully, “It’s just that well…” Lucy broke off unsure of what to say.
“We aren’t like Susan, Lu we still believe that that time happened. There is no reason to fear us.” Peter said his face full of concern for his youngest sister.
“I can’t find Aslan in our world. Narnia has and always will be my home. I feel so alone here.” Lucy stated on the verge of tears.
Peter hugged held her close “That’s how I feel exactly. Its so hard.”
Edmund joined the hug. “Peter, Lu, we aren’t alone we have each other. And Aslan wouldn’t desert us. We’ll figure this out together.”
Lucy smiled through her tears. The three of them would get through this together. One day they would visit the home she saw every night she closed her eyes. Aslan was still looking out for them no matter what he was called in this world.
