4x13: Reaction

Jan 31, 2009 22:02

A mix of cold/flu/stomach bug has kept our family rather subdued this week. The rest of the time I've been busy figuring out the baby stuff. Yes, it's still two months or so, but... *sigh* This madness didn't strike at midnight, but at least I've learned that fabrics and yarns are a very dangerous thing indeed. Hopefully it'll lead me to learning ( Read more... )

I love the additional insight into Dean's chick flick movie choices and that he watched Heathers, for the 'Martha Dumptruck' refernce.

So, Dean's longest on going intimate relationship has been with the Magic Fingers hotel beds, good to know.

I think Heathers has been referenced in the Show before, too. Might be that I'm confusing two movies, though. :)

Magic Fingers: Dean's one true love, right after his family, no question about it.

My favorite part was the shout-out to Dead Poet's Society. *snuggles Dean*

But I wasn't too crazy about teen!Dean. I thought the actor was trying to hard.

It's certainly fun, piecing together all the pop-culture references and what they tell us about Dean. :)

Teen!Dean won me over; if I'd been spoiled (= young!Dean appearing in this ep), I would've been worried that they'd cast someone who looked like JAck did around that age. I'm happy they chose with someone who, to my eyes, is believable as Dean around 18.
Can't say much about Brock Kelly's acting, because I was completely smitten by his looks. :)

Knitting's kinda fun.

And holy hell. Seriously, teen!Dean? He's Dean. Good gods, but TPTB have truly known how to pick 'em.

YES, YES, YES!

But just the fact that they verified Dean's The Awesomest Big Brother Ever makes my heart filled with glee.

YES, YES, YES!

I wanna start listing all the ways this, the boys in school, is making me happy, but... You saw the Show, too, right?

YES, YES, YES! Hee, I'll probably have to say something than just 'yes' else, too. ;) There were so much glee-inducing scenes in this episode that I felt that it would've taken me a long, long time to list them all. I was spoiled for the title and very vaguely about the boys going back to school, and I knew about Dean's shorts but that was it, and I can't believe that the Show delivered something as awesome as this without me having any idea that it was coming. I mean, that's what you get for being a spoilerphobe: not knowing what to expect, but this just came totally out of the blue.

Does Jensen Ackles have a younger brother/cousin/whatever-the-heck or ( ... )

I think I learned the basics of knitting today. It would be so much easier if the needles had hooks, though... ;)
But yes, I can see the allure.

Spoilerphobia: Making Shows Better. :p

I usually don't go for the young guys (save when combined with other guys), but something about Brock Kelly, wearing Dean's jacket and the hair, the amulet... *grabby hands*

Whatever happened to salt'n'burn? It's such an awesome and easy way to deal with various things... I mean, we've had ghosts, right? Or do TPTB think that salt'n'burn's a cliche or something?

Oh, to pick the ten best eps of Supernatural... I see trouble that way. Especially since this season's rocked relatively hard, at least compared to S3. :)

I always marvel at just how coherent your commentaries are. I just CANNOT. And it is so refreshing to have eloquent flister who can for me so that I can just *flail* and squeal "YES! Exactly!".

I will tell you one thing, the end scene broke my heart for Dean. I did not like him being exposed like that. *shelters him*

Ok, I will tell you more than one.

I still find it difficult to be sympathetic to Sam. I am so mean, and such a Dean!girl, but I don't find it easy to empathise with Sam and his "just want to be normal", "No one ever asked me", "Don't wanna be doing this when I'm old" issues. Under any other circumstances then YES. But when you are show what is really in this world, one of only so few, how can you justify leaving it behind and just letting it happen around you? And how do you leave family to face that without you by their side?

Ahhh I'm a Dean!girl coz I understand him so. Sam is a mystery to me.

ALSO - Dean in the gym teachers outfit. HELL FRICKING YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

*grabby hands*

Coherent? They're coherent? *hee*
Considering how random they appear to my own eyes... *bows*

The end scene with Dean and Amanda just... Doesn't seem real, somehow. More like an interpretation of what happened, what was being said. *shrug* Poor, poor boy, anyway.

As for Sam and his desires... I'm of the opinion that he asked Dean to come with him, leave. Sometimes it's better to be away, not know than witness those you care about choosing a course of action that bears a good chance of destroying them.
And it's probably something Sam regretted. But you do stupid things when you're a teen, and Sam and John are/were too bloody similar to be able to share space for long.

For me, blood is just one tie, and family is more than just a collection of people with shared genetics.

Dean as a coach... had such a hard time believing my eyes. :)

There are sentences and words and meta and you notice things. All I can ever do is flail and perv! So yes, so much more coherent than me.

More like an interpretation of what happened, what was being said.

Ahhh so you think perhaps it is more HOW Dean remembers it than what ACTUALLY happens? I could understand that. It felt a little....forced.... construed??... to me.

Thanks for your thoughts on Sam. I do have such difficulty getting that man so its nice to hear voices of reason.

For me, blood is just one tie, and family is more than just a collection of people with shared genetics.

Oh most definately. The family you are born with and the family you choose.

But Dean will be family to Sam, no matter which way you look at it.

I choose to believe that that scene between young!Dean and Amanda was indeed shown as an interpretation rather than truthful replay of what was being said. Because, yes, it felt forced. Out of the blue.

Sam and Dean are rather curious, because I think I can glimpse the reasoning(s) behind their actions, their way. Neither one of them feels like a stranger. And Sam... Sam's a lovely little bunch of issues and ideas... Just like his brother. ;)

Their ties to each other go far, far beyond anything mere blood or shared time could forge.
