The Visual Story at a Glance: "The Magnificent Seven" (3x01) for spnematography.
There are no spoilers for episodes after 3x01, really. Just an acknowledgement of the existence of the episodes.

Thank you. By this meta you put into words what I was thinking while watching this scene. I would've never been able to put my impressions into words like you did. Looking forward to more like this.
*stares at the cap* Pretty! That's a very good choice!
The boys do dig a grave in Roadkill when they bury Jonah Greeley's wife, but they don't do the standard S&B, and she died of natural causes (well, suicide), so it's not quite the same thing.
The fight has stepped out of the shadows and threatens to spill into the lives of innocents, those ignorant of the world of darkness.
Heh, this is pretty much the theory I mentioned having in the earlier comment...
Very nice meta! You really have the one cap concept down pat! *bows to your meta fu*
RL can be a bitch, can't it? And being familiar with the concept of having ten different projects going on at the same that you mentioned earlier? Doesn't help at all. I do hope your RL will get less hectic. *hugs*
That screenshot's just so beautiful I couldn't ignore it after that revelation I had talking with you. And it talked to me so much more than my original choice...;)
Ah, Roadkill! Damn it. Also, that grave? Single occupant, six feet deep. Or at least it looked like it. And she wasn't connected to the mytharc in the least. *refuses to change the meta* I'm glad someone's memory works better than mine. Thank you. :)
Very nice meta! You really have the one cap concept down pat! *bows to your meta fu* And I break that "one screencap"-rule in the very next one... *headdesk* But it had to be done, I tell you!
The RL... just got a tiny bit more fucked up. But it just means I'm forced to hang around the computer and write/review/do other stuff on the computer.
*hugs* Thank you for reading this, for the hug, for your words. I really appreciate it all. :)
The pretty blue sky and the pretty boys... nothing can top that combination! Except maybe pretty boys under the pretty sky wearing no clothes and doing things, but I'm not going there right now... ;)
Heh, I probably remembered the grave only because of the salt-and-burn meta I did ages ago. ;) And you really don't need to change this meta as the reason for digging that grave was Sam's sense of decency and not anything supernatural per se. I thought I'd mention it just for completeness' sake. :)
And I break that "one screencap"-rule in the very next one...
Yay! And it's really not a steadfast rule, so go ahead and pick as many caps as you like for the next one... :) But here you really managed to bring out a lot of stuff with that one cap! *squees*
Dude, of course I'm here stalking you reading your stuff. It's your stuff, after all. :) *hugs again*
You know, that description must be turned into a (quasi-)manip... *ponders deeply* And I've got my tablet now, so... *like she needs another project*
The one-cap thing works awesomely if you pick a cap with a lot of stuff going on in it or in the vicinity of it. :) Just stare hard enough at the details and you'll be able to assure everyone that either you're a prophet or then just a nutcase. ;)
So no matter what I might write, you'd read? Hmm...
episode was surprisingly light in comparison, and the rest of the Season Three has followed suit. You know, I like your reasoning, but I preferred it dark and jumpworthy (at least, that's what I tend to do!!)
he War is here, now, and it'll be hard for the layman to ignore it completely anymore. wonder if FBI / Hendrickson will be back if their profile is raised, hmmmm? Thanks, great thinkie thoughts. Ruby
I admit, I like the darkness of the earlier seasons, even if the screencapper in me has bemoaned it time and again. ;) But this, associating the 'lightness' of S3 with the War being out in the open, is the way I can accept it all.
FBI/Henriksen needs to make another appearance. Everyone else we've met has been already re-introduced, so...methinks it's just a matter of time.
I'm happy to hear you like it when my anal-retentive traits flee their leashes. :) In all frankness, the Screencap-Meta prompt of spnematography is exactly what my metamare seems to have needed, with the rule of digging into just one screenshot allowing me to concentrate on just that single scene, ignore the rest of the episode if I so wish.
It's a shallow grave, a murderer's grave, a grave associated with wars and natural disasters, epidemics.
Although it's not seen in this screencap, the one thing I found significant about this is that Isaac is not in the grave with them. Instead, like John, he is put on a bier above ground. This made no sense to me since it also means a lot of work gathering burnable material (and, I might add, all four leave the scene with these fires burning unattended) and it would be ineffective in burning the corpse without constant maintenance because it takes a lot of heat to burn bones.
The fact of the matter is that the people in the graves were even more victimized than Isaac who at least knew what he was doing, so dividing them this way can't (or shouldn't) be some sort of indication of good/evil. Rather the bier death seems to indicate a soldier's death.
The time for the covert operations is over. I thought this was a very interesting comment and it makes a lot of sense to me. I'd add that the other reason is because demons walk
( ... )
Ah, yes, Isaac. I considered adding a comment or two about him into this, but I forgot. :)
Though I can't help but wonder that if Tamara hadn't been there, would the boys have just tossed Isaac into the pit with the others?
Burning Isaac alone, on a bier, suggested to me, too, the 'burial' of someone respected more than the ones in the pit. A soldier's death, like you said. And maybe, in the lives of the hunters, this is considered the best they can offer their friends and loved ones: a proper burial done with devotion. A final "They were here, they made a difference, they mattered". For what's the alternative? An unmarked grave, a death no one knows about, a life left unrecorded. Possibly scorned by 'civilians', maybe even the law.
And then my thoughts turn back to the boys and I can't help but start worrying again...

It would certainly have been the expedient (and safer) thing to do. But given how the bodies were all left they can't fail to be discovered at some point (even if it isn't by firefighters o_0) So I'd guess that yes, the separation is a deliberate distinction as you point out.
Makes me wonder if it's the sort of death Dean gave Ritchie or not in Sin City?
Alas, all we know about Dean and Richie is that he was given "a proper burial". As it is, methinks we don't have enough material to be sure about what Dean considers that to be. Wonder if we'll get to see Dean detailing the way he wants his body to be disposed of after his year's up... *ponders*

I'm glad you liked this. And yeah, there's going to be more... I just have to watch the episodes beginning with 3x03 anew... ;)
