THANK YOU, rusty_armour! I really enjoyed this nice birthday fic.

Poor Melisende. I don´t know the only one girl in my area who wouldn´t be in love with Loxley. :-D
I was in love with Loxley too. I would like if Guy comforted me. :-)

Oh, good! I'm so happy that you enjoyed your birthday fic! :-D

Poor Melisende. I don´t know the only one girl in my area who wouldn´t be in love with Loxley. :-D I was in love with Loxley too.

I think it would have been impossible for any girl that age not to have a crush on Loxley. I probably would have been swooning too, even with Gisburne around. *g*

I would like if Guy comforted me. :-)

I was hoping that this would provide some interesting character moments for Guy. I thought he might act differently towards Melisende if they were alone. I like the idea that Guy ends up being the one comforting this lovesick girl, especially as he seems like such an unlikely confidant.

I enjoyed raven714's birthday fic, too! Loxley is always such a gentleman. It's fun to see Gisburne trying to behave like one too!

Oh, thank you! I'm glad you liked the story, karen9! :-D

Loxley is always such a gentleman.

I'm glad that came across. I think he is a gentleman, but he can be a bit oblivious sometimes (e.g. with Marion in "The Witch of Elsdon"). Well, it's not completely his fault. After all, he is a man. *g* I like the idea that Loxley is at a loss when dealing with a lovesick girl, though he obviously feels terrible about hurting her.

It's fun to see Gisburne trying to behave like one too!

I think Gisburne is genuinely trying to help Melisende. He's just not very good at it. *g* I think he understands Melisende's pain on some level, so he can sympathize. I think he also can't help being a bit charmed by her, especially as she has this precociousness about her and is pretty ruthless with her questions. As someone who isn't exactly tactful, I think Gisburne might secretly appreciate this quality about her. ;-)

I think you have a good understanding of Guy's psyche!

Well, it's just my own understanding and interpretation of Guy's psyche. Other RoS fans might not necessarily agree with me, though I'm flattered that you think I've got a good understanding of it. :-)

Awwww... this is such a sweet story. Just what I needed! It’s always fun when secondary characters bring out a different side of a main character. I really enjoyed seeing Guy be awkwardly comforting. Great story!

Thank you so much, jackycomelately! I'm glad you thought that this was a sweet story and that it was what you needed last night. :-D

I also think it's fun to see secondary characters bringing out a different side of a main character. I think Gisburne probably let his guard down around Melisende because she's a young girl and they were alone (or he thought they were alone). Gisburne isn't used to being comforting (or nice at all, really), so it was an interesting challenge to try to make him sympathetic while trying to keep him in character. I think his character has been evolving (for the better) throughout this series, but he's no angel and I still want him to be recognizable. Anywaaaaay, I'm happy that you enjoyed reading an awkwardly comforting Gisburne and that you liked the story in general. Thanks again for reading this, jackycomelately. :-D
