Delighted that RthStewart and Autumnia have both weathered Hurricane Irene and have working internet connections--this piece about Peter and the Camels was excellent, and reading Rth and Autumnia's alternating continuations of the story was like watching a pro tennis match...

Wishing everyone shelter from flying camel spit and other projectiles...

Thank you! Thank you! Come on in and play! The water and projectile spit are fine. And Peter, Mary, and Eustace need to go to either Africa, where Peter will be followed around by even toed ungulates in Africa or almost eaten by an alligator when he falls off an airboat in the Everglades.

It is nice to see Mary laugh, isn't it? I hadn't realized that I've not really let her be a fun, happy character before, but she could be. She's just got some growing up to do. Which I have to write. (OCs! STOP ME) I had the idea for Mary and Polly out in the desert with Asim for the femgenficathon, and that's where the musical idea came. Asim playing and through magic the dust dervishes dance.

I'm glad to hear that Irene went better than expected. I was in Ike and was greatly concerned about this one.

On to the story - one of the best things I've read since Not a Romance.

I like Mary/Eustace better than Mary/Peter as well. I don't see any reason why this has to be AU unless something is coming in AW.

I am very curious on why Peter is chaperoning with Asim. Granted there's not much of a story without him, but it is Eustace's research.

Last, I think we need the story of Peter and the camel in Narnia. With Ed providing snarky commentary. And crows taking bets on the outcome.

I cannot ship Eustace/Mary. I can't. See above comment to H. The NFE Flights of Fancy story does feature a non-talking camel in Narnia. It is a wonderful story! I have no idea why it is the four of them wandering about Morocco looking for fossils. Eustace and Mary are researching, Asim still goes where Mary does when he's not following Lucy and Peter just wants to see the world? The four of them make 2 sets of couples? or a triad with one person out? [Take your pick and draw a Venn diagram] Because it's amusing to have more people to write? (but not too many?)

I love comment fic and AU. It's great to see what draws people's attention. I was trying to toss a morsel to the unexpected Peter/Mary shippers (really, I had no idea) and instead I get Eustace/Mary instead?

Mary is too intellectual for Peter's proclivities, for all that she does look like his dryad.

Eustace, on the other hand, doesn't have a good point of reference. Jill doesn't quite mind; they are, after all, still good friends.
