Oh nonsense. No good suburban Catholic matron would read, much less write, smut. Oh wait a minute... Errrr. never mind.

Oh, Catholicism, you are so batshit crazy and I love you so very, very much. Why so much insanity, Catholic Church?

The recessional was America the Beautiful, which is really completely incomprehensible. Yep, those whacky Catholics. I mean WHO would put circumcision and abundant breasts in consecutive readings?

The Episcopal Lectionary here in the States has the same readings. And if you attended an RC Mass, it would have been the same readings everywhere, in whatever language. My attention span, needless to say, was nil. Did get some more ideas for the Fic Exchange though when considering the "flourishing in the grass" line.

I admit to sniggering - until I got to the suggestion from the spousal unit, which got me laughing for real. Timing is everything, indeed - and he doesn't even know about this particular timing ...

I look forward to reading your Fic Exchange entry - more than ever ;)

It's funny even without knowing the double secret closeted life of a Narnia fic writer dipping her toe into the smut pool after a very, very long absence. Oh the irony. The reading from the Gospel of Luke was another coincidence in that Jesus of Nazareth sends his chosen laborers out into the world to teach, heal, and cast out demons -- it is the passage most descriptive of the apostolic way.

God is totally laughing her head off at me -- which she has created for the occasion to mock me.

I intermittantly entertain the thought of doing an excerpted Bible: The Sexy Bits for the benefit of those who may not have encountered its delights, but I hadn't considered the merits of this passage!

The official instructions to lectors were hilarious as well, telling me to "not hold back," to "not be embarrassed," and to be sure to emphasize the words "abundant," "flourish," "fondle" and "suck."

Knowing that if the reader sounds embarrassed, the listeners will immediately wonder why - and instantaneously find out why :)

And hoping, no doubt, that if the reader isn't embarrassed, the listeners will just take it all in their stride ...
