That could have gone better...

It's been a difficult week and a little distraction might be nice.  If you are so inclined, please share a prompt, or something happy, or something that I've done that helped.
Thanks!

Happy thing 1: We have a local photographer showing some of his work at my library. I am strongly contemplating buying a photograph of a hummingbird-- Just because I can't see a hummingbird (or otter or llama) without thinking of your Hummingbirds, Otters, or Llamas ( ... )

Thanks. That's really nice to hear and I really appreciate it. Lucy and Aidan... yes, I should do something there, shouldn't I? But goodness, which POV.... that would be hard... Maybe when they first meet in Archenland?

The three sentence ficathon must have been an awful lot of work, but a lot of people really enjoyed it.

Your stories often help - that's why I headed straight for the llamas when I decided I could allow myself a little non-work screentime today.
But some happy things to share... ummm.
1) I forced myself to rest part of the time this week by using up oddments of grey and pink wool, which I've nearly finished knitting into a tea-cosy. Grey and pink are the colours of galahs and I'm knitting a two-inch-high galah to sit on top. (But I need a few scraps of black, yellow and white to finish the galah.) I'm happy about that, about the fun of thinking of it, and the nearly-done achievement of finishing it.
2) a little while ago, there was a decision to cut down over six thousand trees in Hanoi, in the name of modernisation. But the great public outcry over the past two weeks has brought a reversal of the decision - there'll still be new roads, and a light rail, and dread overpasses and so on, and new drainage, which - yes, is a good thing. But the wholesale rooting out of the wonderful (so needed in this very urban environment) has been... )

That wool and the Galah and the cozy are all amazing. What gorgeous birds and what a wonderful thing to take inspiration from! Such good news about the trees. As for Love's name - that actually came a long, long time ago, in By Royal Decree. The name Hell Bitch comes from a novel, Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty. It is about a cattle drive from the Texas Mexican border to Montana. One of the characters, Captain Call, rides a mare named the Hell Bitch. She's very smart, he adores her, but she's wicked and everyone else is terrified of her. Susan's horse, who, now that I think about it, supposed to named Dove, not Love, is homage to that horse from the book.
