Ruth and George Write Mara and Karrde - Yuletide Reveals

I suppose it's fitting.  This year, I finally, finally uploaded all of Stuff to AO3 under rthstewart and on fanfiction.net under the old G2 handle.  I went back and wrote Mara in an xover with River Song in Separated at Birth in 2011 and observed at the time that some 16 years after writing Stuff, I found I was interested in different things, like

When you said a fandom you knew well, I had suspicions, but nowhere near enough background knowledge to confirm! So glad you had fun, and that your recipients had you.

And the same to you and goodness you were prolific! Yep, Star Wars post the Zahn Tril was my first foray into online fandom and it goes back a long, long time. My first fic, my first online friends, my first action figures. Went to the mountain, came down the mountain. Certainly many of my closest friends today came from those times in the fandom. I dropped out in about 2001 and pick it up occasionally. I'm SO old fashioned in that regard.

That works perfectly then, when there's that history, familiarity and fondness and you can take it to your work. There's no way it can't come across to the reader, too.

I want to try to read them on the plane, I am on a bit of a mad downloading spree just before heading out here!

Of course, now I'm in a mood to re-read all the classic SW Zahn stuff. ;)

I know! And there are a couple of Tim's more recent things that I haven't read. I was looking at Mara's wiki entry and realizing, WOW, he's done a lot with her! I tread very lightly.
