Time for another installment of Creepy Girl Comics

Jul 13, 2010 01:20

A lot of people ask me to draw comics about them, and I usually head that idea off at the pass in a hurry. But I finally realized something important: It's not whether you do something funny that garners you a comic appearance, but rather whether I do something kind of embarrassing and you just happen to be present for it. Adam asked me to draw a ( Read more... )

Thank you, sweet pea. Your and everyone's encouragement has helped me so much in my endeavor to do this crazy thing.

I called someone "apple butter" yesterday. I don't even know how it happened.

Love the Hodgman TASTE THE UMLAUT frames. Oh, MaxFunCon. You will never be far from my heart.

Aw man, you totally return the favor to everyone you know, though! Hanging out with you and Joe last week did so much for my self-esteem and general demeanor, seriously.

Apple butter! It's like you're some kind of terms of endearment savant or something! There are worse talents.

I was just thinking to myself, "man, I wish Sara would draw another comic soon." AND WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE!

Wait, maybe I am magic.

Also, my god, cartoon Adam looks exactly like non-cartoon Adam. HOW DO YOU DO IT!

Some people are more easily cartoonified than others! It is mostly about the hair, I have noticed.

Haha, ex-boyfriends have been intimidated by the power you seem to have over my life.

Nope, Joe has already correctly identified himself via twitter!

I was so perturbed by meeting you that night at the Monkey that I literally puked in my shirt and vowed never to talk to you or post on your LJ again.

ALL LIES! You're super cool and I look forward to seeing you randomly again in another city someday. Perhaps New York if you come visit ever!

Oh! Whew! Okay. I was already a bit out of sorts and flu-ish that night, and not really at the top of my meeting-internet-friends game. I worry so.

There is likely an NYC trip in my nearish future! You are also super cool and I would love to hang out with you again! IN NEW YORK CITY.

My memory of meeting you is a similar combination of me hinting "you seem nice, we live in the same town, let's hang out sometime" and you responding "hey, look here, some other subject", so I had figured it was not a line to be crossed. UNTIL THE FATED FLIGHT. And in retrospect I think my hint-meter is completely busted both on the giving and sensing side so it was possibly all in my head.

I'd like to say that could NOT POSSIBLY BE TRUE, but when I think really hard about it... I probably didn't get really comfortable with the idea of meeting random people from the internet until I moved to Seattle and had a little time to start to despair at the fact that all my friends in this town were grad-school-friends. And so: internet friends to the rescue! Which has been rad, I recommend it. Also, I found[/find] you a little intimidating, so I'm sure that factored into it too.

I can't decide if it would be more or less hilarious (or more or less awkward, for that matter) to have wound up sitting next to you if I'd already met you. Not as funny a comic, anyway. (Unless I forgot what you looked like and still wasn't entirely sure it was you, which is probably what would have happened, really now.)
