Because I am an equal-opportunity denouncer of taking what should be polite disagreements in policy to an obscene level; this is also unacceptable.

Per Shakesville: Last month, a small group of McCain supporters were hanging out peacefully and distributing pamphlets at 51st and Lexington in Manhattan. For no apparent reason, a local Manhattanite ( Read more... )

*sighs* Well this is a very good example that the lunatic fringe isn't just limited to one party. Actions like these are just unacceptable. I'm personally voting Obama, but I would never scream at or attack a person voting for McCain. This is a free country and part of the beauty of that is having the choice to choose who you would like to see in office.

Assaulting someone who is peacefully presenting a sign or opinion is just sickening. I hope this fool is in jail and the woman is getting justice.

"I don’t know why I did this. It’s just those signs, and this election, it has me so upset.”

This, I think, says it all. There's an incredible amount of stress in this election, and I think much of this is media-driven, economics-driven, and driven by many other factors. This is one of the reasons I'll likely be voting early...it's starting to get to me, an otherwise rational voter. :-P

*whines* ...can't we all just get along??

In response to both this and the previous post... I hate when people do this. I hate when people choose to hurl inflammatory words and accusations instead of calmly debating what they actually disagree on. I hate when people feel the need to intimidate and threaten people into believing what they believe...

Gah.

This person later admitted to having made up this story. I was reading about it on reddit.com earlier during the election. I know it's well after the fact, just thought I'd let you know.
