Hawk-tastic!

► Holy cow! Wow, that made my day! I was feeling really crummy all day, depressed and anxious, but that's cleared up instantly. I got an email from my friend John telling me that Darryl Banks had sent him a scan of the Hawkwoman sketch he arranged for him to draw for me. He later sent me the scan himself and I was blown away! It's gorgeous ( Read more... )

MalcolmD says: My apologies if these responses are too long-winded.
  • Given the way that Atkinson has wallowed in her relationship with her son, I don't think that she can plausibly claim that she was helpless in the face of her genetic sexual attraction, but I don't see the crime either. Both participants in this case consented and were over 16 (the current age of consent in Canada), so they have the right to carry on like that (in private) if they so choose.

  • Regarding the Mandarin, I'm surprised that they're going with him too, not because of the stereotype issue but because I thought that Raza of the "Ten Rings" (himself a Middle-Eastern stereotype) was supposed to be the film version of the ten-ringed Mandarin. - Regarding Atkinson I agree that what two legal aged consenting adults do of their own free will is their own business. My being disturbed was mostly at her apparent glee.

- Yeah, I remember how they had basically said that Raza in the first film WAS the Mandarin, and was a set up for the next film. Given how different they went with Iron Man 2 I assumed they decided it was best not to use Mandarin at all. So yeah, it's doubly surprising.

- Nothing about the behaviour of the douchebags in the Aisha Tyler story surprises me. Forget it Jake, it's just the Internet.

MalcolmD says: Regarding your quote, "Forget it Jake, it's just the Internet"--I love it! That succinctly sums up the attitude that one has to take online.

One could also use "It's a wretched hive of scum and villainy", but Star Wars and the internet is a bit overdone. ;-)
