The Dreaded Chairs

► Last night Dean popped her head into my room and started ranting about how cluttered the apartment is now that Dad brought over that chair for me the other day. She kept getting more and more irate, pissed at Dad and others for thinking of our apartment as a storage area, when it's relatively small. She then started in on me for my boxes and stuff in the back hallway (there's no room for my stuff in our storage room since it's filled with Dean's things) and how awful the place looks, and how she'd like to entertain someday but can't.

The rant really came off as "my stuff can stay, but yours has to go!" and I said as much when she came back 30 minutes later to apologize. I'm glad she did because I was fairly pissed off at being barked at like that. Sure our living arrangement isn't ideal, but we're stuck for the foreseeable future. It's not as if I enjoy having to pick up after her all the time, or trying to eat at the kitchen table when she loads it full of books, junk and plants (she eats on the couch). I guess I'm better at holding my tongue.

► The agony and the ecstasy it ain't. Earlier this week I bid on a drawing on Ebay that I really wanted: a pin up of Patsy Walker - Hellcat. The drawing had been mislabeled in the auction as "Catwoman". I lead the bidding all week long until early yesterday morning when I was finally outbid. I was offline asleep when the auction ended at $46 , $11 more than my max bid. That a Patsy Walker drawing went that high is unbelievable to me, and I have to believe that it was because the drawing was mislabeled (surely there are more Catwoman fans than Hellcat). Anyway, losing the auction bummed me out but I survived.

Shortly after I stumbled onto a different auction on the site, this time for a 6" x 6" portrait sketch of Superman by Ramona Fradon. Ramona Fradon was one of DC Comics stable of pencilers back in the Silver Age, and is one of my favourites from the period (I love her work on Metamorpho, a character she co-created). I bid on the drawing (the same amount as I had on Hellcat) and actually won the drawing today. Another Superman pic for my collection! I'm very pleased, as it's a really fun and energetic pic.

I also found and bid on an inked published page. It's Superman #713, page 2, penciled by Eddy Barrows and inked by J.P. Mayer. I bid more on this drawing than I'd ever bid on Ebay, and I'm leading the auction, but I just can't see myself actually winning the page. There's no way it's going for less than $100. Would be an awesome and welcome addition to my collection if I did, though.
