So what exactly was Graystone's motive? He just wanted to off his stepdaughter in as public a situation as possible?

As to the second, he was happy to let his stepdaughter die if it got his name in the headlines (as the grieving father) and if it forced Haly to sell to one of the larger concerns ecause of all the accidents, Greystone would be their number one attraction and be in a good position to maximise his reputation with the new owners.

I'd like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank you for your Robin-at-college stories (amongst your other works). My collection of old Detective Comics gets perused regularly, and they remain a regular source of entertainment for me, and helped me become the Dick Grayson fan I remain to this day! (I still hold that excising the college time of Dick Grayson was one of the most pointless mis-steps in all the changes to the Bat-Family)
Please be assured that no disrespect was intended to yourself or your works in this post, I was hoping to share a modicum of the fun I got out of them with those who might not have had a chance to enjoy them.
